Wellspring Counselling offers a free listening service for 11-16 year olds. Young people often say they found it helpful to have a trusted adult to talk to about their problems.

There is no waiting list for it at the moment and young people can self-refer, usually via their parents. It gives young people a chance to offload confidentially in a safe relaxed space and is a little less formal or intense than counselling.

Celebrating the Launch of the New Youth Matters Government Strategy! 🌟

Yesterday, the Government unveiled the Youth Matters Strategy, marking a renewed national commitment to supporting young people — and we couldn’t be more excited.

This strategy recognises what Foreal Youth workers, volunteers and as community organisations have always known:

👉 Youth work is essential.
👉 Early help saves lives.
👉 Safe spaces, trusted adults and positive opportunities change outcomes.

At 6t5 we welcome this strategy with open arms.
It strengthens the message we champion every day — that all young people deserve to be heard, supported and given the chance to thrive.

What the new Youth Matters Strategy highlights:
✨ The value of high-quality youth work
✨ Investment in safe, accessible community spaces
✨ Support for mental health & wellbeing
✨ Opportunities for skills, leadership and future employment
✨ Stronger partnerships between communities, councils and the voluntary sector

This is a big step forward for youth work nationally — and for the young people we serve locally.

Children as young as 11 are being exploited by criminals across Avon and Somerset to move drugs and commit crimes. We need your help to protect them.

Spot the signs of child criminal exploitation ⬇️
➡️ Changes in 'normal’ behaviour – do they seem withdrawn, angry or scared?
➡️ Changes in daily routines – are they travelling alone during school hours or late at night?
➡️ Going missing and/or regularly absent from school, groups or clubs
➡️ Being secretive about who they are talking to
➡️ Unexplained spending habits – do they suddenly have more than one phone, new clothes and money to spend that can't be accounted for?
➡️ Showing unexplained injuries, or symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol/drugs

Children might not see themselves as victims – it’s up to all of us to work together and help put an end to this abuse.
