Join us for our Mother's Day family-friendly planting event in Heptonstall this Sunday, 15th March. With all the horrific stuff going on in the world, this is a great opportunity to take positive action by planting some trees and give Mother Earth some much needed love in peace and unity with lots of lovely folks from the community 🌱

Help us plant over 1km of diverse boundary hedging as well as 725 fabulous woodland trees to compliment a recently planted orchard. The whole site will be deer fenced ahead of planting so that all the trees and hedgerow can be planted without any plastic spirals or deer guards to avoid unnecessary plastic waste.

No experience necessary, just bring your enthusiasm - all tools will be provided.

Please book using the Eventbrite link below so that we can make sure we have enough tools and spare gloves for everyone on the day πŸ‘‡

Another fabulous day of planting the hillside in Warland, Todmorden. We planted the last 628 trees to complete this planting project. This site has a total of 1,650 trees planted on this hillside as part of a local natural flood management scheme, which will also include a series of living leaky dams in the clough below to slow the flow of water and help reduce flooding further downstream whilst also providing wildlife habitats.

We protected the whole site from deer and livestock so that we would plant the trees without individual plastic deer guards to allow our homegrown Daisy Bank community nursery trees the best start.

Huge love and appreciation for all the wonderful folks who came and helped with getting this site prepared and planted in spite of the weather.

What a fabulous turnout we had for our volunteer hedge planting day at Wadsworth Lane Market Garden πŸ™ŒπŸ™πŸ’š We had a super productive day with so many lovely enthusiastic folks helping out, powered by some rare winter sunshine and cake which was kindly provided by Caldergrowandgraze 😍

We planted a total of 876 trees with a diverse mix of 21 different species for future edible foraging delights and lots of benefits to wildlife.

A huge thank you to everyone who came and took part in planting the hedgerow πŸŒ±πŸ’š

Attenuation pond digging works started for a local natural flood management scheme to help reduce flooding.

Planting over 500 trees in Warland with the help of brilliant volunteers 🌳

Site visits and dropping off 300 Hawthorns, which we donated to High Hirst Woodmeadow Project for their volunteer hedgerow maintenance day 🌱

It's that time of year when every week gets progressively busier until we finish all the tree and hedge planting (over 16,000 trees) before April when all the trees come out of dormancy.

This week, we heeled in 12,025 trees in preparation for various tree planting projects around Calderdale as well as lifting more of our field grown trees as part of our usual Friday volunteer day at Daisy Bank community tree nursery 🌱

We also continued with stock fencing repairs and deer fencing to prepare one of our sites for planting with volunteers on Thursday, 12th February, in Warland.

Give us a shout if you want to get hands-on and volunteer with us 🀘

A massive thank you to everyone who has come out to help with our tree planting and tree nursery days even though the weather conditions haven't been very favourable πŸ™πŸ’šπŸŒ³

Stellar efforts from our brilliant volunteer Toby with removing these big stones from the bottom of the Sessile Oak field bed. The roots had found their way between the gaps, but this made it difficult to lift the trees without damaging the roots so the rocks had to come out.

We should have the last of this bed lifted by next week on our usual Friday volunteer day πŸ™Œ Give us a shout if you fancy coming along to the tree nursery or for one of our tree planting days 🌳
