The Mytchett Community Association (MCA) was formed in 1976 to raise funds to assist the Borough and County Councils build a Community Centre in the village of Mytchett, providing rooms and outdoor spaces to benefit the local community. The MCA was required to raise £20,000 before the Borough and County Councils would fund the er****on of the building, the Community Centre opened in 1987. The MCA

are the charity responsible for the running of the Mytchett Community Centre, and from 1987 to today, the MCA has ensured the Centre is self supporting by hiring out the rooms and playing fields for parties and events, as well as organising our own fund raising events such as the annual fireworks display, family fun day and regular quiz nights. We do not receive any external funding, but have to raise every penny needed to run the Centre, this runs to thousands of pounds every month. The extensive grounds include two football pitches in addition to hosting weekly car boot sales. The large car parks ensure that local residents are not disturbed by the numerous visitors, and can accommodate up to 185 cars. The Mytchett Centre hosts numerous clubs and societies with activities for all ages, these include sports, dance, health and wellness, drama and craft groups attended by over 1000 people a week. Our aim is to provide competitively priced facilities for the local community to encourage health, well-being as well as bringing people together as a community and preventing loneliness

MANY THANKS to those of you who came to support our first £5 fill-a-bag jumble sale. Thanks to you we have managed to raise some much needed funds to add to the New Boiler Fund.

Also, a HUGE thank you to our wonderful administrator, Lea for organising the sale, and sorting through all the wonderful donations we received; thanks also to the lovely Lucy, who supported Lea with all the prep work & overseeing the sale today; and thanks to our wonderful committee members, Jesse and Alison, for assisting with the running of the sale today; and not forgetting our George, who kept us all in refreshments and hot food!

Fundraisers like this are only possible, and successful, with the support of our local community and volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering, no matter how much time you can offer, please do get in touch. We require volunteers to assist with the running of events, including car park stewards; as well as volunteers to help with the maintenance of the grounds and building. Any assistance is very much appreciated 🙏🏻
