One of the many ways we help young people explore employment avenues is to attend different employer engagement events!

Here are Kelly, one of our Employability Support Workers, and Craig, one of our young people, enjoying some well-deserved refreshments after attending the Edinburgh Fringe Youth Job Festival last week ๐Ÿฅค

๐Ÿ“ข Bridges Project are looking for more young people to get involved in our Young Ambassador Activities!

This is an opportunity for young people to share their views, ideas and experiences and help shape things that matter to them ๐Ÿ’ช

There are different ways to get involved, including:
๐Ÿ‘ฅ Youth voice meetings
๐Ÿ“ Surveys
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Consultations
๐Ÿค Opportunities to connect with other young people

Young people can choose to take part in some or all activities โ€” whatever works for them. Thereโ€™s no pressure to do everything!

Getting involved is a chance for young people to:
๐Ÿ—จ๏ธ Have their voices heard
๐Ÿ’ก Share ideas and opinions
๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป Meet new people
โœจ Build confidence and experience
๐Ÿ“ƒ Help influence future opportunities and decisions

If young people would like to hear about future opportunities, they can also choose to be added to our mailing list to receive updates about surveys, events, consultations and ways to get involved ๐Ÿ“จ

โ„น๏ธ Open to young people aged 12-25 in East Lothian.
โฌ‡๏ธ Contact information on the flyer

Our Young Ambassador Activities are delivered by Connie from our Bridges Opportunities programme, funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation ๐Ÿ™‚

The young people participating in the Build You Up construction employability course have been busy developing their practical skills over the past few weeks!

Alan, one of our volunteers, gave the group an introduction to measuring and the young people had a go at putting their skills into practice by measuring the dimensions of our reception area ๐Ÿ“

The following week, they took it to the next level as they used the measurements to paint the reception area ๐Ÿ–Œ This means we now have a nice combination of purple and orange welcoming everyone who visits our building ๐ŸŸฃ๐ŸŸ ๐Ÿคฉ

Well done, everyone ๐Ÿ‘Š

Build You Up is delivered by our Spark Your Future programme, funded by East Lothian Council's Employability Grants Programme as part of The Scottish Government's No One Left Behind funding!

This Carers Week, we're proud to reaffirm our commitment to supporting unpaid young carers and young adult carers ๐Ÿ’œ

The theme of this year's Carers Week is "Building carer friendly communities", which is something we at Bridges Project aim to contribute to via our Young Carers Programme. Through this programme, our Young Carers Support Worker Rachael provides tailored support to young carers and young adult carers in East Lothian to empower them to live fulfilling lives ๐Ÿ’ซ We're proud to be part of the wider effort to make East Lothian communities more carer friendly ๐Ÿค

Our Young Carers Programme is funded by a Carers Act Funding grant from East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership!

We're pleased to have launched a new work experience programme, the Bridges Pathway ๐ŸŽ‰

Thr programme will match local employers up with work-ready young people for work experience placements and Bridges Project will support both parties throughout the process ๐Ÿค

We're confident that Bridges Pathways will be a win-win for both employers and young people and we hope many employers from across the Lothians will sign up to the programme!

Happy World Environment Day ๐ŸŒ

We have marked the day by doing one of our litter picks, which we do once a week for a month every summer as part of our Climate Action Plan ๐ŸŒฑ

A group of staff and young people spent two hours walking around Musselburgh and picked up all the litter they could find ๐Ÿšฎ From countless bottles and cans to pizza boxes, there was no shortage of litter for them to pick!
