It is good to see the progress being made on laying a new athletics track at William Brookes School. We are now very confident that the athletics event will take place in full on Sunday July 12.

A nice happenstance is that the deep blue colour of the track matches the colour of the Wenlock Olympian Athletics Club. 😀

Our archivist, Chris Cannon, received an email from Mimi who lives in Beijing and who visited Much Wenlock last January with a friend. Her email said...

Visiting Wenlock was the most touching trip of my journey in the UK. It showed me how one person’s small dream changed the way people around the world perceive their own bodies and communicate with one another. Wenlock is a pride of the British people.

Best wishes for you!

Ironbridge Rotary Celebrates Support for Local Organisations
On Tuesday 12th May, I joined several other local charities at the Tontine Hotel in Ironbridge. We had been invited by Ironbridge Rotary to receive a certificate in recognition of the financial support they have given over many years. In particular, they contribute to the running costs of the Society's Live Arts Festival enabling us to keep our entry fees as low as possible and, in some cases, to waive them.

Live Arts 2026: The second and last weekend of competition took place on Sunday 22nd March when classes in Dance and Singing took place. As usual the level of competition was very high, and audiences were treated to some special performances by talented young people. The festival had several noteworthy visitors including the Shropshire Lord Lieutenant – Anna Turner, and Much Wenlock Mayor – Dan Thomas. One special occasion took place on Sunday when the High Sheriff of Shropshire - Jane Trowbridge – presented both the Chair of the Wenlock Olympian Society – Helen Cromarty, and the Chair of the Live Arts committee – Sue Hayward, with High Sheriff Awards. Details of the event can be found on the Society’s website: https://wenlock-olympian-society.org.uk/wenlock-olympian-society-arts/
