📣 Did Your Family Have a Connection to the Battle of the Somme?

As we approach the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, I am preparing a special commemorative exhibition at St Mary’s Church, Ross‑on‑Wye from 4th July 2026.

I'm reaching out to people across Herefordshire who may have photographs, letters, diaries, stories, or other memorabilia connected to loved ones who served during the Somme in 1916.

My aim is to honour their courage, preserve their stories, and help our community connect with the experiences of those who lived through one of the most significant battles of the First World War.

If you’d like to contribute or would like more information, please get in touch with me.

Deadline to submit information is 31st May 2026

Let’s come together to remember, honour, and keep these stories alive for future generations.

On this day 81 years ago, Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest N**i concentration camp, was liberated. It is estimated that 1.1 million people lost their lives there, with many more millions killed in the Holocaust.

Today we join the nation in remembering all those who fell victim to such brutality, simply for being who they were.

Tonight at 8pm people across the nation will light candles and place them in their windows, in tribute to all those who lost their lives.

Poppy Appeal 2025

What a year! Starting off with celebrations for VE and VJ day, going to local events like Much Marcle Stem Rally and then finishing with a great Appeal with a trip to London for London Poppy Day and a clout by Ledbury Archery Club based at Putley!

Thank you so much to all those who gave in the Little Marcle, Much Marcle and Brockhampton districts, and thank you to all my wonderful door to door volunteers!

If you would like to volunteer people leave a comment or email me at
[email protected]
