October's Object of the Month! 🥄 ✨

The final curious artefacts from our Welsh Treasures series this year are these charming Welsh Love Spoons from the 4th Marquess of Bute's collection of many remarkable and romantic treasures.

For over three centuries, young Welshmen courted with wood, not words. Suitors would carve a single block of wood into a spoon as proof of their patience, skill, and readiness to provide for a family. If the recipient accepted the gift, courtship began, awww!! ❤️ 🏹

The spoons seen here belong to a fantastic collection of over 100 other love spoons (Llwyau Caru).

Do you have a sweetheart you would gift a love spoon to? Share this post with them as a token of your affections, go on, don't be shy!

Walk through time with us! 🕰 ✨

Looking back at it's construction, it's amazing to see what Mount Stuart has become. It is a truly unique place with such rich history, renowned artwork and incredibly detailed design.

Every time we take a walk around this spectacular building we can't help but imagine what it would have been like in the beginning. Luckily, we have these fantastic photographs from our archives to help bring the past to life!

If there's one thing these photos prove, it's that the house is every bit as special now as it was when it was first built back in the Victorian Era. If you'd like to discover more about this stunning building's fascinating past, come and see our exhibition From Brick to Building: Mount Stuart's Development, while you still can!

The exhibition will close when the house shuts on the 18th of October. Don't miss out! Book your tickets to visit us now www.mountstuart.com/visiting
