The Royal Air Force Air Cadets is a voluntary military youth organization sponsored by the Royal Air Force. It is open to all young people 12-17.

🌟 Huge congratulations to Cadets Boyle and Moore! 🌟

What a weekend for these two! Cadets Boyle and Moore joined others from across West Scotland Wing for the Bronze First Aid course — and they absolutely smashed it, earning their Bronze First Aid badges.

From treating minor injuries to staying calm in emergency scenarios, they’ve shown real confidence, capability, and commitment. These are skills that genuinely make a difference, both in and out of uniform.

First aid is one of the most important life skills we teach in the RAF Air Cadets, and we’re incredibly proud to see our cadets stepping up and achieving great things.

👏 Well done, Cadets — you’ve done 498 Squadron proud.

What did you do last weekend? 🗓️

FS Baxter describes how he spent his Saturday 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇫🇷: “The cadet engagement event at the Scotland v France game was once in a lifetime opportunity I couldn’t miss out on. From a guard of honour for the team buses to flag bearing in front of nearly 70,000 people, it was an unforgettable experience. Over 60 cadets attended the game, representing the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and carrying the flags of the country’s, which is a very important role. The cadets trained for most of the day, perfecting the movements they will carry out on the field, up until the start of the game where the atmosphere was unbelievable.”

✨ Congratulations Sgt Davies! ✨

A huge well done to Sgt Davies, who has successfully completed the Combined Initial Course and has now been formally appointed to Sergeant.

This is a fantastic milestone that reflects his hard work, commitment, and enthusiasm for supporting our cadets and squadron. Stepping into the role of Sgt is no small achievement, and we’re incredibly proud to see him take this next step in his RAFAC journey.

Please join us in congratulating him as he continues to grow, lead, and inspire.

Hit the tarmac. Feel the power. 🥾🥇

Road marching is a great way to get into fitness and to socialise with likeminded people.

Take part in walks ranging from 15k-40k and progress from your blue badge all the way up to your gold badge (which takes place in the netherlands!)

If you want to get out and about whilst also improving your fitness step by step and making new friends along the way, then road marching is the activity for you!

Of course we wouldn’t be air cadets without flying and gliding opportunities, over the years we have seen lots of our cadets take to the skies in gliders and grobtutors to achieve their blue wings badge.

498 Wishaw squadron is having another recruitment night this month on the 25th at 7:30 PM and it is an amazing opportunity to get involved in a number of activities such as flying, shooting, first aid and more. The recruitment night will be an intro in to all things 498 squadron and be a chance to gain more insight before joining the squadron. ✈️

Remembrance Day 2025

The sun came out in time for our cadets taking part in the Remembrance Parade in Motherwell this afternoon.

We are immensely proud of their commitment, their conduct, and the professionalism they displayed on such an important day. Their willingness to honour those who gave so much reflects the very best of our squadron.
