Morpeth Clock Tower Bellringers We are a group of enthusiastic volunteers who ring the bells in Morpeth Clock Tower. If you are interested in learning the ropes we would love to hear from you.

We are the current custodians of a 300-year-old tradition of bellringing in the English full-circle style in Morpeth Clock Tower. We meet every Wednesday 19:30 - 21:00 to practice and ring to celebrate civic events. Through the ringing of the Clock Tower bells, we aim to promote the culture and heritage of Morpeth. We train people of all ages (9+) and from all walks of life to ring the bells in this ancient tower. Details are available from the Tower Captain, Rev. Simon White.

Our 'new' bells turned 75 on Wednesday this week. The fancy scientific name for this is semisesquicentennial or diamond jubilee.

The previous ring consisted of six bells cast and hung in 1706 and a further two cast in 1833. In 1951, these bells were melted down and recast to form the 'new ring' of eight bells that we enjoy today. In total, 2026 marks 320 years of bell ringing in the Clock Tower.

We marked this milestone in the time honoured bell ringing tradition of ringing a quarter peal.
