A Walk Across the Bay A Step Towards Changing a Life 🌊

This July, something really special is happening across the beautiful sands of Morecambe Bay.

On Saturday 11th July 2026, people will come together to take part in the historic Cross Bay Walk a journey that has been made across these sands for hundreds of years, guided safely by the King’s Guide.

But this walk isn’t just about the scenery
It’s about walking for something bigger than ourselves.

Every step taken will help support One Woman at a Time, a charity helping girls and young women who are fleeing forced marriage and female ge***al mutilation giving them safety, support and the chance to rebuild their lives.

Just imagine it
Walking across the open bay, the sea air around you, the sound of footsteps across the sands, surrounded by nature and a group of people who all share the same purpose.

✨ A powerful experience.
✨ A beautiful part of our local heritage.
✨ And a chance to make a real difference.

100 Years Old.
Still Stitching Stories.

This beautiful vintage Singer sewing machine still works perfectly — no electricity needed. Built over a century ago, it continues to provide women with a skill, an income, and independence.

In a world of disposable technology, this machine proves that craftsmanship lasts.

A simple machine.
A powerful livelihood. ❤️

👭 Julia & Sophia – Sisters Who Refused to Give Up
Meet Julia and Sophia — two sisters whose strength and love for one another changed the course of their lives 💛

After facing gender-based violence and being abandoned by their parents, the girls were left with their elderly grandmother and no means to continue school.
Sophia, the eldest, dropped out to work doing errands in her village.

But Julia spoke up.

She shared their story with us — not just for herself, but for her sister. That moment of courage sparked a ripple effect of kindness and change.

Thanks to the generosity of their sponsor, Catherine,
both girls were welcomed into safety at Ortum Girls. They sat their Kenya Primary exams in 2022 and are now thriving at secondary school, aiming to finish in 2026 📚

Julia dreams of going to university and helping others.
Sophia is preparing for a vocational path where she can build a secure, independent future.

✨ Their journey is a powerful reminder of what happens when we listen, believe, and act.

To all our amazing sponsors – thank you for giving girls like Julia and Sophia the chance to dream again.

What if one meal could help change a woman’s life?

We’re inviting you to host a simple fundraising meal — at home, at work, with friends, your church, your school, your community group.

🌮 Mexican night
🍛 Indian feast
🍝 Pasta evening
🧁 Afternoon tea
🥘 Potluck supper

You choose the theme.
You cook the meal.
You invite your guests.
You charge what you like — and donate the proceeds to One Woman at a Time.

We’ll be setting up a webpage with recipe ideas, downloadable posters and simple hosting tips to make it easy for you to get involved.

Every pound raised helps us continue supporting women who need a safe space, practical help and community.

Could you make one meal that makes a difference?

One table.
One evening.
One woman at a time. 💜

These were the words of Brendah, living in a rural village in Kenya.
Thanks to one of our sponsors, Brendah is now enrolled in school with books, shoes, and the confidence to believe in her future.

Melvin Chepchumba is 14 and in Grade 6. When she realised she and other girls were at risk, she spoke up — and her bravery helped protect four other girls in her village.

One young voice made a powerful difference.
This is why education, awareness, and safe support matter.
