A slightly damp but beautiful walk from Moelfre to Traeth Lligwy showed a very clean beach and great views although you won’t be getting too much surf this side of Môn 🏄‍♂️🌊

On Thursday we had the pleasure to visit the fantastic young eco-warriors at Rhosneigr School 🚸📚 to discuss, teach and learn about plastic and sewage pollution 💩 hearing from them about their own experiences of seeing animals hurt by plastics or swimming in polluted waters was disappointing but also hearing how eager some were to help make a change was inspiring !!
You’re never too young to help out and protect the waterways 🌊

Newborough Beach Clean 17/11/2023:
Hi everyone, I’m Dan (2nd from right) and I’ve been helping run the SAS Anglesey social media pages I’ve the last couple of months and doing some work to try and get things up and running a little bit!
I organised a small beach clean the other day with some friends - take a look at some of the stuff we picked up 🤢🤨
- Fireworks 💥
- Dog poo bags 🐶 💩
- Rope 🪢
- bottles & cartons 🧃🥤
- clothes 🧢
- lightbulb 💡

It was really disappointing to see loads of rubbish purposefully left behind - absolutely no need for that! ⛔️

If you’re out and about on the beaches or in your community on Môn take 5 🖐️ mins to pick up some plastics and rubbish and help protect the wildlife in the fantastic environment 🏝️

Disappointing to see on the SSRS app that two fantastic spots on Anglesey, Benllech and Rhosneigr, have been flagged as having had sewage discharge by Welsh Water 💩🏖️⚠️🏄‍♂️ be careful when surfing/ swimming and use the app to stay up to date!!

If you see something, report it on either the SAS app or online for others to see 💩

Sewage monitors are the only tool we have to track the scale of pollution being dumped into our waterways. Is it no surprise then that some have been broken since 2021 and water companies don't seem to be in a hurry to fix them?

The ocean provides most of the oxygen we breathe, it regulates climate and plays a key role in our physical and mental wellbeing. 🌊🙌

From today, we're running on a deficit. It's time to rethink how we use our renewable resources and fight harder to protect and restore them.

I was pleased to find very little rubbish 🚯 along the beach at Red Wharf Bay on my walk the other day - good job at keeping a very popular beach clean 👏 🏖️
