The term twinned town is used to describe a form of cooperative agreement made between towns in geographically and politically distinct areas to promote cultural and commercial ties. The modern concept of town-twinning, conceived after the Second World War in 1947, was intended to foster friendship and understanding between different cultures and between former foes as an act of peace and reconciliation, and to encourage trade and tourism. In recent times, town twinning has increasingly been used to form strategic international business links between member cities. Minster Twinning Association was formed to increase the ties with it's twinned town of Armbouts Cappel in Normandy. The association was formed and currently run by like minded residents from the local community. We strive to ensure that the strong communication links to our twinned town is maintained and further strengthened. We enjoy many community events that are shared and reciprocated by our twinned counterparts in Armbouts Cappel. We strive to complete a visit to Armbouts Cappel annually and in return we look forward to their return visit. We meet on a monthly basis to discuss important matters in regards to fund raising, event management, organisational decisions and any other business relating to our precious village and that of Armbouts Cappel. We would like to increase the Associations' public awareness and would also relish the opportunity to embrace any local residents who wish to attend our meetings. All that we would request is that you make your request formally prior to our meeting dates so that we can make arrangements to accommodate you. Please feel free to share, like and comment on our page as we would like to invite positive views and opinions and involve both communities fully.
