The picnic is inspired by The Great Get Together, the UK-wide celebration of community, connection and the things that bring us together. It was created in memory of Jo Cox MP and is rooted in her powerful belief that we have more in common than that which divides us. In that spirit, I would like this event to be an opportunity for people from across Milton Keynes to come together in friendship, unity and community.
The aim of the afternoon is simple: to bring together local businesses, schools, colleges, faith groups, voluntary organisations, charities, public bodies, parish councils, residents’ groups, community organisations and families from across Milton Keynes, so that everyone feels welcome and represented.
This will be a community picnic, so I encourage everyone attending to bring their own food and, if they are able to, to bring a little extra to share with others. I hope this will help people meet new neighbours, start conversations, get to know others in the community, and learn more about the fantastic local groups and organisations that make Milton Keynes such a strong, welcoming and vibrant place.
The afternoon will be family-friendly and open to all. It will be a chance not only to enjoy time together in Campbell Park, but also to meet others from across Milton Keynes, make new connections, build relationships across the community, and celebrate the people and groups who do so much for our city. I also hope it will be a useful opportunity for residents and local organisations to meet my team and me in an informal setting, particularly if you have any queries, questions or issues you would like to raise with us.

Happy ! 🐝🐝🐝

Today is so we want to celebrate these special pollinators! 🐝

With the support of our volunteers, we monitor bumblebee populations in 5 key locations across Milton Keynes.

By tracking abundance and species diversity, we can help maintain and improve pollinator habitats across the city.

Our findings show that Stonepit Field and Campbell Park are top sites for bumblebees 🌳

We’re delighted that Inter-Action MK has been named a finalist in the Milton Keynes Community Foundation Charity Awards 2026 in the Arts & Heritage category for our project, Story Box!

Story Box works with families with pre-school aged children, bringing stories to life through creativity, play and exploration. It’s wonderful to see this work recognised for its impact on early development, supporting speech, language and communication skills, while also nurturing creativity, confidence and connection. As we look ahead to Story Box Chapter 2 in the coming months, we’re excited to build on this success and share even more of the magic of Story Box with families across Milton Keynes.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had an inspiring time at St Marys C of E School and Glebe Farm School, working with students to spark conversations about public art in their local area.

Together, we explored the role of public art, how it can shape communities, reflect identity, and strengthen connections between people and place 🌍🤝

Through creative mapping and making, the children shared ideas and perspectives about what matters most to them in their local area💡👀

It’s always a privilege to collaborate with young people and create space for their ideas to genuinely influence future creative decisions. Their voices, experiences, and imaginations play a vital role in shaping public art that reflects the communities it belongs to. 💬

We’re grateful to Milton Keynes City Council for bringing us in to deliver this creative consultation work and the development of a public art plan for Wavendon🙏

What a fantastic day at Wavendon Community Day on Saturday! 🌿

We ran a creative consultation for the area’s Public Art Plan and were thrilled to gather so much thoughtful feedback from the community 🙏

Alongside this, our Story Box session brought Percy the Park Keeper to life, with families creating wonderful animal homes inspired by the story 🦉🦆🦔🐿️

A big thank you to Community Action: MK, Wavendon Parish Council, and The Parks Trust for their support, and to our amazing artists Alice Bland-Rhodes and Sarah Hunt for bringing creativity to every corner of the day.

And of course, a huge thank you to everyone who braved the windy conditions to share their thoughts on the Wavendon Tree, we loved hearing from you! 🌳💚
