Our Friday Club had a trip out yesterday, paid for by a generous donation from St James Place. We hired a coach and visited Hamerton Zoo Park in Cambridgeshire. What with club members and carers and some of the CrossLinks volunteers, there were 32 of us all told in the zoo - see the group photo. We rather swamped the cafe at lunchtime (!), but there were lots of animals to see. The meerkats were most people's favourites. We were thrilled to see the white tiger but, as the photo shows, the tiger wasn't so thrilled to see us.
We understand it rained quite a bit in Milton Keynes while we were away, but the sun shined all day in Hamerton. A very pleasant, enjoyable day.

Last Saturday (12th July) saw this year's Holiday At Home event in the Water Eaton Church Centre. The theme this year was 'A Trip To Santa's Workshop'. On the day, the temperature was close to 30 Celsius, so it didn't feel much like Lapland!

As in previous years, the event was entirely funded by CrossLinks, so it was again completely free for the 70 guests. There was a snack lunch, singalongs, quizzing, dancing, and a few jokes from Santa.

One photo shows members of our Disabled Club enjoying the event. Another shows the team of volunteers who helped make it all possible. Well done, you volunteers. And there's a photo of Santa trying to explain why he's not wearing his traditional outfit, and why he has shaved his beard off, and how he'd managed to lose so much weight since Christmas (!!)
