πŸ’› Our Mission - To increase the UK investment in research into brain tumours

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, brain tumours continue to kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet, to date,

just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. A powerful campaigning organisation, Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community. Unique and much needed, it is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. The charity is campaigning to increase the national investment in research into brain tumours to Β£35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK. Together we will find a cure.

Well done to Conor, who has completed his 10k a Day for 100 consecutive days Challenge in memory of his Granny T, who died from an aggressive brain tumour one year ago.

Conor crossed the finish line at Thurso Parkrun, with his proud Grandad playing the bagpipes as he took his final steps of the challenge.

With hopes to raise Β£1000 for Brain Tumour Research, Conor has now gone above and beyond his original fundraising target, and he has currently raised Β£2,755!

He said, β€œThe Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence is jointly funded by this charity and another cancer charity. This is why I have chosen it, so hopefully one day other families will not be affected by this devastating cancer and have to go through what my granny did.”

What a fantastic challenge, we’re super proud of Conor! πŸ’›

What did you feel like when you first received your brain tumour diagnosis?

Our ambassador Craig Russell reflects on the moment he was told he had a brain tumour and the impact it had on him and those around him. His story is a powerful reminder of the reality behind the statistics and why greater awareness, research and support are so urgently needed.

Brain tumours kill more men under 70 than prostate cancer. πŸ’›

Yesterday, Parliament debated brain cancer following a petition from Brain Cancer Justice that gathered more than 100,000 signatures.

Among the stories shared with MPs was a letter from Jackie Hall, whose son Max is living with a high-grade brain tumour. Jackie recently joined us to meet with her local MP, Lee Barron.

In her letter, Jackie asked a simple but powerful question:

"If this were your child, would you be satisfied with the options available?"

Max should be thinking about school, football, friends and his future. Instead, his family is facing a diagnosis for which there is currently no cure.

At Brain Tumour Research, we were proud to stand alongside patients, families, charities and campaigners calling for greater investment in research, improved access to clinical trials, earlier diagnosis and better outcomes for everyone affected by a brain tumour.

Thank you to Brain Cancer Justice for bringing this important debate to Westminster, and to Jackie and all those who shared their experiences to help drive change.

In memory of their much-loved colleague Mick Laws, who sadly died from a glioblastoma in January 2026, Lovell has launched the Big Lovell Brainwave campaign, pledging to raise more than Β£100,000 over the next two years to support Brain Tumour Research.

Our CEO, Dan Knowles, said: "Partnerships like this are absolutely vital if we are to accelerate progress towards better treatments and a cure. By raising both funds and awareness, Lovell is helping to shine a light on a disease that has been overlooked for far too long."

Thank you to everyone at Lovell for turning loss into action and helping to bring hope to families affected by brain tumours. πŸ’›

Have you or someone you know been affected by a brain tumour?

Today, Parliament will debate brain cancer following a petition from Brain Cancer Justice that gathered more than 100,000 signatures.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet they continue to receive just 1% of the national spend on cancer research.

Thank you to everyone who has helped shine a light on this devastating disease. Together, we must keep pushing for better outcomes for patients and families. πŸ’›
