Promoting African Arts in Milton Keynes. Nkiru Arts is a ‘not for profit’ social enterprise. Nkiru means ‘the best is yet to come’. We will be focusing in all aspects of African Arts, through African drumming, African Dance, and African Food, African Art, African Textiles and African fashion. African Drumming workshops and regular African drumming sessions will be run to enhance people’s lives, wo

rking with the retired, as a benefit to people suffering with mental health issues; we hope to run special classes for people with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, people recovering from cancer and illness, adults with learning difficulties. We work with many children’s groups and organisations. It is well documented the benefits that can be gained from drumming in a group. Nkiru will bring the best specialist African drumming instructors to Milton Keynes, specialising in the many instruments played in West Africa, to include; djembe, dun dun, sabar, kora, balafon to name but a few. The most vibrant colourful textiles can be found in Africa; at Nkiru we will make you traditional African attire and also using these amazing fabrics with a modern twist too in our fashion range. Making bags and accessories to match. At Nkiru we are trained costume designers. We will turn your ideas into costumes for whatever your event or needs may be in performing, music, stage, theatre, school plays, costume ball or dance. Milton Keynes is a modern city with people from many backgrounds and cultures; we want to celebrate these by bringing Traditional African Dance to Milton Keynes with the UK’s best dance instructors holding all day workshops and eventually a regular weekly evening class. Hand in hand with music goes food. Africa has the most wonderful foods that many people in Milton Keynes are yet to discover. We hope to bring you evenings of discovery and delight incorporating African drumming and delicious African food to follow.

WOW our new rhythm for our repertoire is shaping up really well.
Absolutely loved how everyone smashed all the dun dun parts and both djembe parts this week. 🫶
