Thinking of visiting the Shed?

Whether you’re a regular, an occasional lurker, an ex-member who hasn’t been for a while, someone who came along to an open day, or someone who has never visited before, you’ll be very welcome.

We’re open during the day on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and also in the evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Our evening sessions put more focus on crafts, sewing, electronics, 3D printing, and laser cutting, so there’s plenty to get involved with.

The Shed is much more than most people imagine. It’s a place to learn, make, repair, share skills, meet people, try something new, or simply have a chat and a cuppa.

Pop in and see what’s going on. We’d love to see you.

Progress update from the Hot Works Area 🔥

A huge thank you to The National Lottery and The National Lottery Community Fund for the funding that has helped make this possible, and to R-Tech for offering us a fantastic package including a TIG welder and essential supplies.

We’re already putting the new equipment to good use. Here are some of the first practice pieces from a trainee learning to TIG weld 10mm stainless steel. The trial butt joint was a great first success, with just a little undercut that can be easily improved with the machine’s simple adjustment dial.

The trainee has also fabricated a stainless tool rest for a lathe in our wood turning shop. The radius and torch angle were tricky, so it may not be the prettiest weld yet, but it is fully functional — and his technique is improving all the time.

We’re thrilled to now have the capacity to weld stainless steel, which was previously out of reach without this equipment.

We’ve also started preparing stock for gallows brackets for four hanging baskets, which were offered for sale at our recent open day to raise funds for the shed. The R-Tech TIG unit is also a highly regarded MMA stick welder, and we’ll be using that feature for this job too.

A big thank you to Prostate Cancer UK for sending us materials to help raise awareness about prostate cancer.

Our group is open to people of all genders and backgrounds, but as many of our members are men, it’s especially important that we help share information and encourage conversations about this issue.

Awareness, early action, and support can make a real difference!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Men in Sheds Milton Keynes and Milton Keynes Makerspace Open Day on 2nd May.

It was lovely to meet so many people, have a chat, share a cuppa, and show what we’re all about. A special thank you to the Thames Valley Police representatives for joining us and supporting the day.

We’re thrilled to say it was a fantastic fundraising success, a really fun day, and our biggest and most successful Open Day so far!

Prize winners will be announced next week, so keep an eye out.

Thank you again to everyone who visited, volunteered, donated, supported, or helped make the day such a success.

We’d also like to say a big thank you to all the organisations who support us throughout the year, including Milton Keynes Community Foundation and Original WD40 UK, and our friends at the Milton Keynes Play Association (MKPA) . Your continued support makes a real difference to our organisation and the community we serve.

Thanks to generous funding from The National Lottery and The National Lottery Community Fund and a fantastic response from R-Tech Welding Equipment Ltd, our metalworkers have now taken delivery of a state-of-the-art TIG welding machine.

This brilliant new equipment will help us develop our skills and take on more projects for the benefit of the local community.

Further updates to follow as we learn how to use it to its best effect.

We want to say a massive THANK YOU to Original WD40 UK for sponsoring our entry into this year's MK Christmas Tree Festival at Midsummer Place! 🤝🎄
It’s amazing to see local businesses supporting charities like ours. We had a brilliant time putting our workshop skills to the test - firing up the wood lathe and laser cutter to create some truly unique, hand-crafted ornaments for the tree. 🛠️✨
Now, we need your help to bring home the win! 🏆
