African and Dhol Drumming in Milton Keynes is run by Nkiru Arts.

Nkiru Arts is a not for profit Inclusive Arts Organisation run entirely by unpaid volunteers. Nkiru Arts run weekly African Drumming sessions and Indian Dhol Drumming sessions to enhance people’s lives. Sessions are totally inclusive and we encourage a mix of non - disabled and disabled. Our community group is made up with retired over 60’s, people suffering with mental health issues, adults and teens with learning difficulties, adults recovering from cancer and other long term health issues, single parents and students and not forgetting our healthy adults and children too. We welcome people from all ethnic backgrounds, nationalities, religions and all genders.

The group learn and play traditional West African rhythms on traditional drums and perform in traditional costume. To the audience any of the group’s disabilities are not seen and the group members benefit immensely from being part of a mixed group. It is well documented the benefits that can be gained from drumming in a group. Nkiru Arts perform regularly at local community and charity events, performing on average at over a dozen events per year. Our emphasis is on having fun and giving pleasure to others through our performance.

Nkiru Arts is always open to new members and absolutely no previous musical experience is needed.

Available for workshops and performances at community and corporate events, private parties and funerals.
