🐝 Water for our buzzing buddies! This week at the farm, we set up these simple, DIY insect watering stations to help keep our local pollinators hydrated.
During the warmer months, bees, butterflies, and other helpful bugs work tirelessly but can struggle to find safe water sources. Deep bird baths or puddles can unfortunately lead to drowning.
That’s why we made these "nature ponds" using a few basic items:
🪴 Shallow saucers filled with fresh water.
🪵 Bark and moss to serve as natural landing docks.
🪨 Smooth rocks so bugs can safely drink without slipping in.
It is an incredibly easy project that makes a massive difference for your local ecosystem!
Want to make your own? Here is how to do it:
1. Grab a shallow dish or recycled plant saucer.
2. Layer in rocks, pebbles, or twigs so they break the water surface.
3. Add a little moss or bark for extra grip.
4. Fill with water (just enough to leave the tops of the rocks dry).
5. Place it in a shady spot near your flowers!
