Aylesbury Vale Lions Club was pleased to award an Melvin Jones Fellowship to Mark Broad. Mark has been instrumental in helping us with a Sleigh collections for the last 5 years by towing the Sleigh and Santa around the streets of Aylesbury Vale, the fastest sleigh with the pulling power of a Porsche. We have been extremely grateful to Mark for his support, with additional help by inviting us to provide refreshments for the Bedgrove Fun day. The award was presented by Lion President Brian Dickety , is final act as President before retiring from Lions after nearly 50 years of service at club, District and Multiple District level and with the closure of the club felt it was an ideal time to hang up his boots. We wish him a long and happy retirement, he has certainly earnt every minute if it.

Spent an enjoyable afternoon with members of Breathe Easy club of Aylesbury and made very welcome. Explained all about Lions and the benefit to the community. Membership was the big proble, as lack of members impact upon our service activity. Was able to handout Message in a bottle together with the wallets, very much appreciated. Interacting with the community who benefit from our service.

Who we are!

Aylesbury Lions CIO📷

On 1 January 2019 Aylesbury Lions became an Independent Charitable Organisation which will involve working closer with the Charity Commission. We will continue to be affiliated to the Lions Club International. The change will not affect the variety of activities which we will be carrying out during our busy programme.

After a brief break following Christmas we are now planning for our next event in February which is a Can Collection at Morrison’s when we will be putting on tall yellow hats and collecting on behalf of Marie Curie. This will be followed by our Giant Easter Egg Raffle which is good news for chocoholics as we will be raffling r 24 Giant Eggs this year. Part of the proceeds will again be donated to the Florence Nightingale Hospice. Our annual concert will be held in St Mary’s Church on Saturday 15th June when the music will again be provided by the Vale Symphonic Wind Band. Two years ago we collected unwanted hand tools which were taken to Workaid in Chesham where they were refurbished and sent to third world countries. We are hoping to make a further collection in May/June this year.

During the Summer we will be attending various fetes and shows raising funds which we can then donate to good causes in the area.
