Skedaddle Summer Comedy and Circus school 2026.

It's the 8th year of the Skedaddle Summer School, a whole week of games, comedy, circus, drama, leading towards creating a hilarious show for the end of the week.

Both weeks are held at the Guide Hall in Milnathort, and are from 10am to 4pm each day, plus 6 to 8pm on the Friday for the show. Each week costs £120.

The first week, 3rd to 7th of August is for current P4 to P7s. There are 2 spots left for this week.

The second week, 10th to 14th August is for current S1s to S5s. There are 3 spots left for this week.

Both weeks are run by Fiona Ferrier, co-Artistic Director of Dirliebane Theatre Company, with over 25 years of teaching clown and circus. Fiona has been running Skedaddle youth theatre in Milnathort for 12 years.

2 SPACES AVAILABLE at SKEDADDLE COMEDY AND CIRCUS SUMMER SCHOOL.
I'm Fiona, I run Skedaddle Youth Theatre and I'm a comedy performer with Dirliebane Theatre Company (www.dirliebane.org.uk) and Hearts & Minds, the clowndoctors (www.heartsminds.org.uk).
The Skedaddle Comedy and Circus Summer School runs in Milnathort, and we focus on circus skills and clown comedy - slapstick, comic timings, improvisation etc with a show at the end of the week.
There are two spaces available for the second week of the summer school which is for current S1 to S4 aged children. (The primary aged week is full!)
Monday 11 August to Friday 15 August. 10-4pm, plus 6-8pm on the Friday. £110. The week takes place at Milnathort Guide Hall.
This is the sixth year of running the summer school, and it's great fun! It's the best part of my year!

"It really is a great program. All 3 of my kids have attended. Only one is truly comfortable in front of people and the other two aren’t but that didn’t stop them. They loved the ability to input into a play and make it their own. Fiona’s experience helps bring out the best in the kids and ignited a fire that mine didn’t know existed. I love that we do this in addition to the Colts football and Otters swimming. It truly gives the kids a well rounded extracurricular experience!"

Skedaddle Youth Theatre runs on Tuesday evenings at the Guide Hall in Milnathort. There are a few SPACES AVAILABLE in all classes.
P4-P6 5.45-6.45pm
P7-S1 - 7-8pm
S2-S4 - 8.15-9.30pm

Now it's in 11th year, Skedaddle classes are, first and foremost, fun! Classes aim to cover basic theatre skills, such as improvisation, voice, movement, mime, clown and storytelling. These skills will encourage confidence, self-esteem, self-expression and imagination! We will aim to do 2-3 small performances each year, with the classes devising their own plays.

The classes are led by Fiona Ferrier, who has been performing for over 20 years as a clowndoctor and actor. Fiona is co-Artistic Director of her own childrens theatre company, (www.dirliebane.org.uk), regularly performing in schools and venues and performing at Perth Theatre this Christmas in The Cinnamon Sisters. She has taught youth theatre for over 25 years throughout Scotland and in America and Australia.

My S1 to S3 class are working on Romeo and Juliet for performance in March. For most of them it's their first encounter with Shakespeare, and that's a responsibility that's large!
My first encounter with Shakespeare was English at school, The Merchant of Venice, and it made me hate Shakespeare for years.
So, I've edited the play, added summaries, hammed up a section that is translated into Scots, added facts (R&J takes place over just five days), added humour and, hopefully, encouraging the start of a love of Shakespeare. I now find the language beautiful, and hope that their first shot at it intrigues them into learning more.
