Maker Memories is a volunteer led community project designed to capture the rich and diverse heritage of Maker Camp on the Rame Peninsula. The project is being led by volunteers from Maker and Rame Community Interest Company in partnership with and supported by the Plymouth History Centre. Maker Camp was set up by Virginia House Settlement in Bretonside, Plymouth. In 1925 the settlement raised the

funds through country fairs and events to set up Maker Camp for children and young people who were experiencing post war austerity to experience the beauty and peace of Cornwall and have a holiday. These school holidays continued for many years and this project aims to capture memories of this who went to Maker Camp. It also aims to capture more recent memories including those of the musicians, artists, youth workers, volunteers, campers, those who held weddings and wakes, those who have striven to maintain Maker for the community and those for whom Maker is important.
