MEGAN’S STARR MOST INSPIRING WOMEN’S PLAYER šŸ«¶āļø

Holyhead Women’s Rugby Club have been incredible supporters of Megan’s Starr Foundation for the past few years, helping to raise awareness and funds for youth mental health.

A huge part of that support has come through Mark Jones, one of our trustees and a coach at the club, who has always advocated for Megan’s Starr and the importance of spreading the message that young people need to feel seen, supported and never alone.

Each year, the club presents the Megan’s Starr Most Inspiring Women’s Player Award to someone who truly reflects strength, commitment, kindness and inspiration.

This year, the award has been given to Amy Roberts.

Mark Jones said:

ā€œFor this year’s Megan’s Starr Award for Most Inspiring Player, I’ve chosen our manager/player Amy Roberts.

Her commitment to the game as a player is second to none, along with her infectious character, which makes her extremely popular with everyone.

But it’s not just on the pitch that she shines. As a manager, she is constantly arranging games, times and all the other aspects of running a team that come with that responsibility.

She’s approachable and considerate, and juggling her private life and working life around the rugby team is truly inspiring.

A very deserving award. Long may she reign!ā€

A massive congratulations to Amy, and a heartfelt thank you to Holyhead Women’s Rugby Club for continuing to support Megan’s Starr and keeping Megan’s name shining through sport, friendship and community šŸ’–

šŸ’š Catching Up With Our Heroes šŸ’š

At Megan’s Starr, we are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by people who go above and beyond to help keep our services running.

Dan and Morgan recently took on the Newport and Barry 10K events and raised an amazing £725 for the charity.

As many people don’t realise, Megan’s Starr receives no statutory core funding. Every counselling session, every support group, every wellbeing activity and every opportunity we provide for young people is made possible through fundraising, donations and the incredible efforts of supporters like these two.

Their determination, generosity and community spirit will help ensure that young people and families across Pembrokeshire continue to receive the support they need.

From all of us at Megan’s Starr, thank you Dan and Morgan. You are absolute legends.

Could you be one of our next heroes?

Whether it’s a run, a walk, a cycle, a mountain climb, a skydive or your own unique challenge, every penny raised helps us continue changing lives.

Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. That’s what makes Megan’s Starr so specialšŸ’–šŸ™šŸ«¶

The Dizzy Bear is the heart of the Megan’s Starr, where connections are made, lives are rebuilt, and hope is restored for young people and families who may be feeling a little lost.

Every day, we see friendships formed, confidence grow, and people discover that they are not alone. What might seem like a simple coffee shop visit is often so much more. It’s a safe space, a listening ear, a place to belong, and sometimes the first step towards a brighter future.

Please help support our work by calling in for a coffee, a waffle, a loaded burger, or simply by browsing our collection of upcycled and pre-loved clothing.

Every purchase helps us continue providing support, opportunities, and hope to those who need it most.

When you support The Dizzy Bear, you’re supporting something truly specialšŸ’–

A fantastic day at Bluestone Wales Wellbeing Week.

It was a privilege to be invited to speak alongside such a diverse and knowledgeable panel, sharing experiences, ideas and perspectives around wellbeing, mental health and supporting people to thrive.

One of the biggest takeaways for me was the value of collaboration. Listening to speakers from different backgrounds and sectors highlighted how much we can learn from one another when we come together with a shared purpose.

The discussions were thought-provoking, educational and inspiring, offering practical insights as well as fresh perspectives on some of the challenges facing individuals, families and communities today.

Thank you to Bluestone for creating a space where meaningful conversations can happen and connections can be made. Days like these remind us that no single organisation has all the answers, but by working together we can make a real differencešŸ’–

Some weeks are harder than others.

This week alone, Megan’s Starr has supported young people struggling with their mental health, listened to parents who felt they had nowhere else to turn, provided a safe space for conversations that simply couldn’t wait, and helped people feel a little less alone.

The reality is that none of this work is easy. There are long days, difficult conversations and moments that stay with you long after the doors close. But when a young person smiles for the first time in weeks, when a parent says ā€œthank youā€, or when someone finds the strength to keep going, it reminds us exactly why we do it.

That is what makes smiling through the pain worth it.

To every volunteer, supporter, donor and person who believes in what we do, thank youšŸ’–

You are helping us make a difference in the lives of people who need it most. Together, we keep showing up when it mattersšŸ’š

šŸ’š Meet Kane šŸ’š

While many teenagers are enjoying a lie-in on a Saturday morning, Kane is choosing to spend his weekend gaining valuable skills and experience in the kitchen at The Dizzy Bear.

From food preparation and kitchen hygiene to teamwork, time management and customer service, every shift helps build the confidence, knowledge and experience that employers are looking for.

At Megan’s Starr, we believe that employability isn’t just about qualifications. It’s about giving young people opportunities to learn, grow and develop real-world skills in a supportive environment.

Kane has embraced that opportunity, getting stuck in, learning new skills and building experience that will help him take the next steps towards employment in the future.

We’re incredibly proud of the commitment and maturity he shows by giving up his free time to invest in himself and his future.

The skills he’s learning today could open doors tomorrow.

Well done, Kane. Keep smashing itšŸ‘šŸ’š
