Suffolk Highways are planning to carry out improvement works in your area.


What will we be doing?

Sign replacement and road markings.
Where will we be doing it?

A1101 from Five Ways Roundabout to Travel Lodge entrance.

What are the times and dates of the works?

Monday 22 June to Wednesday 24 June, 7pm to 5am

What traffic management will be in place?
While we are working, a road closure will be in place for the safety of highway users and our operatives

What is the diversion route?
A11, A14, A1302, A143 and vice versa.

Important roadworks information

A11 Red Lodge to Chippenham – technology repair



I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out repairs to roadside technology used to manage the network on the A11 between Red Lodge and Chippenham. This work is needed to maintain and repair the equipment we use to monitor our network and manage traffic flows.



We plan to complete this work overnight on Saturday 6 June 2026. We will work between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.



Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A11 southbound between Red Lodge and Chippenham and divert traffic as follows:



Drivers travelling southbound, or wishing to join the A11 at Red Lodge or Chippenham, will be directed northbound on the A11
Traffic up to 7.5 tonnes will take the A1101 and continue until joining the A14 at junction 43
Drivers will then travel westbound on the A14 to continue their journey
Traffic over 7.5 tonnes will continue northbound on the A11 past the A1101 interchange
Drivers will then be directed onto the A134 and continue to the A14 at junction 43
Drivers will join the A14 westbound to continue their journey
The diversion ends once traffic has rejoined the A14


Please note emergency vehicles will not have access through the works.
