Habitat for Humanity Great Britain

Habitat for Humanity Great Britain We are an international charity fighting extreme poverty housing in the UK and across the world. We stand together with the most vulnerable.

We are Habitat for Humanity, one of the world’s leading shelter NGOs. And with them we build, toward a world where everyone has a decent place to call home and the opportunity for a life built on hope and potential, self-reliance and dignity. We are constantly reaching out to those who need us most, to those who cannot reach out for themselves. And that is where you come in. Building a world where

everyone has a safe place to call home will take all of us. By working together, we can all play a part. We can all make a difference. We are Habitat for Humanity. And together we build.

Here's more photos from our first House to Home project last week! 🏠

House to Home supports people who have been at risk of homelessness to sustain their tenancies, helping them turn a house into a home. A secure tenancy is vital in creating stability, security, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.

Members of the team worked alongside volunteers to create a warm and welcoming space, helping to transform the property into somewhere that feels like home.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to support this project 🩵

In England alone, there are around 175,000 privately-owned, empty non-residential properties.

What if these spaces could be brought back into use to benefit communities?

This article, published by LSE, shares research commissioned for Empty Spaces to Homes: 'Replacing Empty Spaces with Productive, Green Places'.

Our first House to Home project took place last week! 🩵

House to Home supports people who have been at risk of homelessness to sustain their tenancies, helping them turn a house into a home. A secure tenancy is vital in creating stability, security, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.

The house was furnished through Restore, and members of the team worked alongside three volunteers to decorate the children’s bedroom and hang a blind in the lounge, helping to make the property feel more like home. 🏠

House to Home is a practical, tailored intervention that includes redecoration, light-touch repairs, and support with furniture. Local volunteers are at the heart of the programme, helping to make a real difference to people starting a new chapter in their lives.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to support this project 🩵

Over the past month, you’ve seen what happens when a door opens.

A family finds safety.
A home becomes a foundation.
A future takes shape.

But millions are still waiting - without a door they can close at night, or open to a better tomorrow

Together, let’s open the door – to safety, to opportunity, to a place where everyone can build their future, because it all starts with home.

And it starts with you.
