October TransPennine Express strike action called off.

⚠️ RMT strike action planned for Sundays 11, 18 and 25 October has been suspended.

🚆 As a result, trains are expected to operate as normal on these dates.

Replacement buses will be in operation for Northern services due to engineering work between Middlesbrough-Redcar-Saltburn on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th October. TransPennine Express is scheduled to operate a Middlesbrough-York train shuttle service.

Last night's TVL RUG meeting featured the usual wide range of topics under discussion, including:

• Late running trains terminating short of their destination
• New trains for both Northern and TransPennine Express
• Northumberland Line success
• No ticket office at Whitby
• Lack of signage about TransPennine services departing towards Manchester from platform 2 at Redcar Central
• Saltburn Food Festival overcrowding and potential loss of revenue
• Proposed new footpath under the railway at Marske station
• Redcar Central Station building
• Potential new TVL RUG meeting venue
• East Cleveland Line
• New areas of Darlington station

Come and join the regulars tonight (Tuesday 6th October) for our latest Tees Valley Line Rail User Group meeting, a couple of minutes walk from Redcar Central Station.

LOCATION: Community Room, Redcar Morrisons.
START: 1900. FINISH: 2030.
Discussions relating to all things railway along the Tees Valley Line and beyond.

We will also have an update on yesterday's TransPennine Express Trains Northern Network Rail 2026 Community Rail North Conference in Leeds.

There's been a significant amount of investment along the Darlington to Saltburn Tees Valley Line in recent years and we heard more detail of further investment coming our way in the next few years.

OCTOBER SUNDAYS STRIKE ACTION - PLEASE BE AWARE.

The intended TransPennine Express Trains strike action for Sunday October 4th has now been cancelled and will now take place on Sundays October 11th, 18th and 25th.
This will significantly affect the direct Tees Valley Line Saltburn to Manchester Airport route.

TVL-RUG continues to receive concerns from passengers regarding the reliability of TransPennine Express Trains services serving Redcar and Saltburn.

While we recognise the challenges faced by the railway industry, passengers rightly expect a service that is dependable and consistent.

We will continue to raise these concerns with the operator and relevant stakeholders, whilst pushing for improvements that deliver the level of service our communities deserve.

PLEASE BE AWARE..

Huddersfield Station on the direct TransPennine Express Trains Saltburn to Manchester Airport route will be closed from today, Saturday September 19th, until Sunday October 4th as work on the Transpennine Route Upgrade continues.
During this period, diversionary routes and rail replacement buses will be in operation so please allow extra time for your journeys back and forth on the line.
