Last week were were really pleased to welcome Don Atkinson and Lee Gordon from The Welding Institute when they visited to donate £350 from their 2026 Annual Dinner Raffle.

It was great to be able to discuss the crucial role we play in providing none-judgmental, holistic, therapeutic and practical support to those experiencing abuse within our community.

We would like to thank the institute and all the guests at their Annual Dinner for making this donation possible. 💜

of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland have recently launched a survey to help them better understand what makes women and girls feel unsafe in the Cleveland area.

Her safety, our priority!

If you're a female in Cleveland, tell us how safe you feel at home and in public spaces, in our new survey launching today.

Matt Storey has developed the short survey to understand how safe women and girls feel, what level of harassment they have experienced and what they think can be done to make them feel safer.

Your feedback will help identify hotspots and shape future work to make our communities safer for everyone.

🗓️ The survey closes 30th June 2026.

Take part and make your voice heard:

*Later in the year, a similar exercise will be conducted to understand the feelings of safety in public spaces for men and boys.*

Today we are attending Holme House Prison for their Staff Wellbeing Day.

This is our fourth time supporting this important event, as part of Stress Awareness Month.

We will be providing information, advice, and guidance to prison staff on how to access support if they are affected by domestic abuse.

This year’s focus for Stress Awareness Month and asking what actions we can take to improve our lives and environment. Key themes include:

Workplace wellbeing:
Supporting leaders and staff to manage stress, set healthy boundaries, and make use of Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs)

Taking practical steps:
Prioritising breaks, exercise, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance

Recognising the signs of stress:
Including muscle tension, headaches, fatigue, and sleep difficulties

Together, we can help create healthier, more supportive workplaces.

Think stalking is by strangers? Think again. 90% know their stalker.

National Stalking Awareness Week is a time to raise awareness of a behaviour that is often misunderstood, minimised, or ignored. Stalking is not romantic, harmless, or “just persistence”, it is a pattern of fixated and unwanted behaviour that can cause fear, distress, and serious harm.

Stalking is often closely linked to domestic abuse, especially after a relationship has ended. For many survivors, the abuse does not stop when they leave! It can continue and even escalate through monitoring, repeated contact, threats, intimidation, and stalking.

We support individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, including those experiencing stalking and post-separation. You can also access specialist stalking advice and support through the Suzy Lamplugh Trust https://www.suzylamplugh.org/refer-someone-to-us

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse or stalking, please know you are not alone. Help is available.

Earlier today we attended a networking and women's health event organised by Power of Women

Sponsored by Consultants Choice Clinic , the event offered a fantastic opportunity for connections and conversations, alongside an insightful Women’s Health talk and Q&A with Mr Manos Damingos.

In the work we do every day, we meet so many incredible women showing strength, resilience and courage. Events like this are so important in creating spaces where women feel seen, supported and empowered.

Thank you McKenna and Dobbs

Abuse doesn’t have a “type.” It can happen to anyone.

Watching Coronation Street, we’ve seen Todd Grimshaw, confident, sharp, and independent, become trapped in Theo’s coercive control. A powerful reminder that abuse is never about weakness.

It’s about a perpetrator slowly taking away someone’s confidence, freedom, and sense of self.

Why is it so hard to leave? Because abuse creates an invisible cage:
• Isolation – cutting you off from support
• Gaslighting – making you doubt yourself
• Shaming – using your fears against you
• Dependence – creating barriers round money, housing, children
• Fear – making leaving feel more dangerous than staying

And for many survivors, leaving can be the most dangerous time.

Domestic abuse can happen to anyone at any time!
