We are currently seeking new Trustees to join our Board and support the next phase of our charity’s development.

At A Way Out, we believe that no one should experience or fear abuse, harm and exploitation (our vision). We work tirelessly to prevent abuse, harm and exploitation by empowering women, families and young people to overcome the challenges they face and tackling the injustice and inequality that they experience (our mission).

🙌 New Volunteer Sign up 🙌

This afternoon, Chris dropped by to Tees Valley Together CIO to introduce a volunteer to the team and to be shown round the Eco Shop.

The gorgeous volunteers and staff at Tees Valley Together made her feel amazingly welcome, gave her the low down on what they do and as if by magic (it’s never by magic 😃), she loved it and starts next week.

Another successful supported volunteering mission achieved.

Thanks to Linda at Tees Valley Together for having us and making our volunteer feel so at home 🥰

We Need your help....

A fantastic second session of our 2 lead in workshops for this years Volunteers Week (1-7 June).

Lots happening, with trees being painted, photo frames designed and large wooden letter starting to come to life. In all in aid of celebrating Middlesbroughs amazing volunteers.

Our final workshop takes place at 2B Creative Health next Tuesday from 1-2:30pm.

A big thank you as always to 2B Creative Health for having us and a shout out to the guys from Volun tees who came and gave a hand today 🎨

Over the past few months, The Beacon Baptist Church and partners have been developing a number of Community Wellbeing spaces across Middlesbrough.

They now have three weekly Wellbeing Cafes operating across Middlesbrough:

• Tuesdays - Linthorpe Beacon Church (Cambridge Road, TS5 5NN)
• Wednesdays - Coulby Newham Beacon Church (Langdon Square, TS8 0TF)
• Thursdays - Community Living Room, Viewley Centre, Hemlington, TS5 9JH

All cafes run weekly from 1pm–3pm.

These spaces are designed to be warm, safe and welcoming environments for people who may be:

isolated or lonely
struggling with mental wellbeing
needing friendship or community
facing hardship
looking for gentle support and signposting
People can simply turn up, no appointment or referral needed.

Across the cafes they offer:

free refreshments and sometimes meals
friendly conversation and a listening ear
games and activities
signposting to local support services
foodbank support and referrals

PLEASE COME AND JOIN US IN THE OLD SECTION IT WILL BE A LOVELY EVENT. WE HAVE A NEW EVENTS BOARD IN THIS SECTION TOO THANKS TO THE DOGGER BANK FUNDING AND MARTY FROM STEEL RIVER FABRICATION FOR THE WORK AND DAWN FOR THE POSTER. A lot of potential volunteers came forward for the poster job but other posts are available. Dot

Neil had a great time with Colin from Teesside Hospice delivering an introduction to volunteering to the students on the kings Trust course at Breckon hill communuty centre always a valuable session letting the students know what volunteering can do for them 😀 👍
