New Tabards for a new summer season of volunteer fundraising and community support by Derby South Rotary. You can join us at the Etwall Well Dressing on Saturday 17th May and/or at the Carsington Classic Car Show on Sunday 22nd June. If you would like to be a Rotary volunteer for the day contact us at [email protected] . All volunteers welcome and perhaps you could put together a small team of younger volunteers and find out about the leadership opportunities Rotary offers at the same time? It's our official birthday - 52 years ago our founding President John Freeman received our welcome to the world of Rotary Charter; - 152 Doctor - Surgeon - Teacher - Entrepreneur - Accountant - Dentist - Manager - Solicitor - Retailer - etc Rotarians later we are still here making a positive difference to our community and the international world of Rotary. Helping to eradicate polio across most of the world - implementing 2 billion $ of service projects supported by the 25 million volunteer hours of 1.3 million Rotarians every year but primarily helping to make a positive difference in our Derby community.
To-day we remember Rotarian friends who are no longer with us and set out on our mission to bring the world of Rotary to a new generation of WFH professionals by providing the means for people who work in isolation to socialise and make new friendships. We discovered that working together on the occasional community project provided the glue that helped to build friendships. At Derby South Rotary we are building a club within our club that specifically seeks to meet the needs of people working from home. If this interests you - do get in contact - [email protected]

What have we been up to at Derby South Rotary?
Last June we ran the Carsington Classic Car show for record numbers of exhibitors and visitors.
In October we held a bucket collection for End Polio Now.
In October we helped the Royal British Legion to get donations for their Poppy Appeal. We also placed memorial wreaths in Mickleover, Littleover, Hilton and Etwall on Remembrance Sunday. We also planted crocus bulbs as part of our End Polio Now awareness campaign with the help of several local organisations.
At our reach-out meeting in November we made donations to the Children’s Air Ambulance and
In December we sold most of 3000 Xmas Prize draw tickets and organised a well-supported draw at the Nags Head in Mickleover. We also held a Christmas bucket collection and sold Prize draw tickets on two Saturdays at Tesco, Mickleover.
Just before Christmas we had a wonderful Christmas party to celebrate our achievements and enjoy each other’s company.
Not bad for a handful of people who enjoy volunteering together and making a small difference to people who appreciate the help.

It’s Saturday and Derby South Rotary are on parade again! Thanks to the support of Tesco in Mickleover and their magnificent community champion Mindy we are promoting our Christmas Prize Draw whose proceeds go to local charities.
