After our business meeting on Tuesday with tea, biscuits and the opportunity to socialise, our members were entertained by this month’s speaker, Emma - The Lady Time Traveller.

As Emma dressed herself in layers of under garments ending with a beautiful (but very heavy) velvet Tudor dress we learned lots about clothing and the role of women in the Tudor period.

It was an afternoon of fun, fashion, interesting facts, discussions, laughter and questions.

Thank you Emma for another wonderful session!

Part of our Gardening Group paid a visit to Trebah Gardens. They were stunning, the walk down to the beach through large leafy jungle plants made you imagine you might come across a dinosaur! The ice cream on the beach had to be done it was delicious đŸ˜‹.

In this month’s meeting we enjoyed a very informative presentation from Toby about the beavers at Heligan, which was a follow on from our previous visit to the beaver enclosure.

With the very successful introduction of a new beaver, Heligan now has the addition of two kits just coming up to a year old. All four beavers are thriving, building dams to increase water levels and slow the water flow which in turn is increasing the whole biodiversity of the area.

Toby brought in a stuffed beaver so we could see the size, feel their very silky soft coat and the snakeskin like tail. Of course as you would expect they have very strong teeth, which we learned are full of iron and are therefore a bright orange colour.

Thank you Toby for a great afternoon with lots of questions and discussion.

Almost forgot to take photos - the Gissey Girls enjoyed a most delicious lunch at The Britannia today!
