A huge congratulations to our Scout PLs and APLs who successfully completed their 2 day expedition a couple of weeks ago!! πŸ‘πŸ•οΈ

Our 8 young people took responsibility for planning and navigating their own route, using maps and compasses to find their way. Along the journey, they demonstrated excellent teamwork and independence by making use of timetables and public transport along with hiking to help them reach their destination.

After arriving at Ythanbank Campsite, they set up camp and put their outdoor skills to the test by cooking their own meal. 🍳πŸ”₯

Throughout the expedition they showed resilience, problem-solving, leadership, and great teamwork. We are incredibly proud of everything they achieved and the positive attitude they displayed throughout the adventure.

Well done to everyone involved, and thank you to the leaders and volunteers who supported them along the way! πŸ‘πŸŒŸ

This weekend, Cubs completed another successful weekend camp at Haddo.

The weather was changeable, but the sun came out for us packing away the kit this morning!
Great fun was had all weekend on our World Cup themed camp.

The Cubs invented their own "countries" complete with flags and anthems, chants and tactics. We made the goals for our football tournament and learned square lashing at the same time.
All players received a medal and the winning nation received a trophy and some fizzy water to spray in celebration...

We also did some hiking, bivvy building and campfire songs to complete some of our skills badges,
Needless to say - the Cubs (and leaders!) went home exhausted!!

These camps don't organise or run themselves without the dedication of the entire Cubs team, so huge thanks go to Cathy, Andy and Andrew for delivering such a great camp. Also thanks to GSL Alison and Stuart and parent Phil for the assistance in packing up the camp and emptying the trailer back at the hut.

Finally well done to all of the Cubs for making the camp as successful as it was - all taking part in the activities was great to see. B-R-A-V-O

🎳 A fantastic evening for Methlick Scouts at Methlick Bowling Club!

Our Scouts had a brilliant time trying their hand at bowling lastnight, learning new skills, and enjoying a fun session together. A huge thank you to the club for welcoming us and making it such an enjoyable experience.
Special thanks to our two instructors Shaun & Kevin for their patience, encouragement, and excellent lesson – we really appreciate the time you took to teach us and help everyone have a great evening.
We had lots of smiles, a few competitive moments, and plenty of fun along the way! 😊

A double celebration tonight! πŸŽ‰

Huge congratulations to our young people who were presented with their awards by Sarah Mackie DL today.

Well done to one of our Squirrels who achieved their Chief Scout’s Acorn Award and to one of our Explorer Young Leaders who achieved their Young Leader Award!

Two fantastic achievements recognising all the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm they’ve shown.

A big thank you to Sarah for joining us and helping celebrate these special achievements.

Our Scouts have had a busy couple of weeks! πŸ•οΈπŸ’ͺ

Last week we headed to the MUGA court for our own mini Highland Games, taking part in tug of war, welly throwing, and even toss the caber! Plenty of teamwork, laughs, and competitive spirit all round. πŸ₯Ύβ›ΉοΈβ€β™‚️

Last night, the Scouts put their navigation skills to the test with a cross-country hike from the back carpark at Haddo all the way to the Scout Hut in Methlick. Following instructions, clues, and grid references, they worked together using maps and compasses to successfully navigate their route back. πŸ§πŸŒ™

A fantastic effort from everyone involved β€” well done Scouts!

Cubs celebrated National Doughnut Week this evening by playing games, designing our dream doughnuts and then decorating (and eating) some real doughnuts.

Tonight we welcomed some new Beavers to the colony with some high energy (and volume) games and a "log chew" where the Beavers discussed the activities they have enjoyed and came up with ideas of things they would like to do.

Not sure we will be able fulfill the skydiving dreams πŸ˜‚

πŸ’š May is Mental Health Awareness Month πŸ’š

This month, we want to remind everyone that looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health.

With busy schedules, work, family life and everyday pressures, sometimes we all need to pause, take a breath and allow ourselves a few minutes to reset. Stepping outside, taking a break from screens and simply breathing can make a real difference.

At Scouts, we are proud to provide young people with opportunities to spend time with friends, try new things, have fun and feel supported in a positive environment.

Our Scout values are at the heart of everything we do. Through inclusion, teamwork and personal growth, we help young people build skills for life, grow in confidence and make a positive impact within their families, friendships and communities.

To our young people, parents/carers, leaders and everyone who supports our Scout Group:

πŸ’š Check in on your friends and family
πŸ’š Take time for yourself when you need it
πŸ’š Remember, it’s okay to not be okay!

Small acts of kindness can make a huge difference. A simple hello to a neighbour or someone you pass in the street, helping one another or taking the time to listen may support someone in ways you may never realise.
