☀️☀️Have a great summer Explorers, parents and leaders. A few heading off on some exciting camps, can’t wait hear all about them in August. 🏕️⛺️

Also a big thank you to the leadership team for all the hard work and volunteering efforts over the year 🙏🙏 it just won’t run without you.

We are looking for an extra member to join the team. If you think you can spare a few hours a week please get in touch.

Big thank you to the “Ellon Ladies” for the kind donation towards the international trips that some of our explorers are embarking on soon.

4 heading off to Spain for an Explorer belt adventure this year, and 1 off to the world Scout Jamboree next year. 🏕️🗻🥾🌍🇪🇸🇵🇱

Also shoutout for our Explorer leader Steve who was awarded his 5 years of service. Well done Steve👏💪🤩

That’s the AGM over for another year, but please stick your head in the door anytime. Always looking for helpers, but even if you just want to see what’s going on… the door is always open.

Well done to our explorers who successfully completed their expedition last weekend. No easy task.

3 long days out in the hills, 60km hiking in total, rain and shine, tents and stoves, and of course blisters..
You did a great job 💪🥾🗻⛺️

BE AWARE..

We are tagging Ellon academy not because we are blaming pupils but to raise awareness and hope that young people spread the word to keep our small people and animals safe, as well as protect the beautiful environment on our doorsteps.

We had a lovely evening at the beach but were saddened by the sight we were met with when we arrived. Recent partygoers (because the bottles, cardboard and bags were all fresh), had left the beach area an utter disgrace.

Amongst the empty and half full bottles and plastic cups were a lot of newly smashed bottles.
Sharp broken glass all over..

We cleared and tidied as much as we could but there is still a lot in the old concrete shelter.

Please please please take all your rubbish away for the sake of everyone, and think about how you would feel if it was your young family member or dog who suffered badly as a result.
And let’s not forget the birds or seals.

Hoping the Young people of the academy will read this and lead by example… 🙏

We can’t do much about those coming from outwith the area except spread the word, to protect our own.

BE AWARE!!

What should have been (and was) a great evening of sand sledging at Newburgh, also turned in to a major clean up operation.

Saddened to see the sheer amount of fallout after a recent beach party. Empty and still half full bottles, plastic glasses, and broken (deliberately smashed) glass all over.

Even if people don’t care about the planet, the environment and our wildlife, please think carefully about the young children and dogs out there.

The beach is beautiful and we are so lucky to have it on our doorstep, PLEASE look after it, and others..

We must have a bit more respect, and imagine the injuries and hurt this could cause.

We managed to clear a fair bit with what bags we had, but there is still a lot tucked up in the concrete shelter.

🤩🤩 It was unanimously decided by the squirrels that you are nice, kind and FUN…and that one day they want to do what you do! 🥰

Methlick Explorers would like to take this opportunity to thank 🙏🙏

🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️the Methlick cycle challenge 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

for donating to the most worthy cause. They have provided :

“3 sets of pads AND a spare battery”

for the Defibrillator we have at the scout hut.

These maintenance items are not cheap, the pads must be replaced each time it is used, and the batteries are expensive. This can save lives !

👮‍♂️🚔. A fabulous night at the Police Scotland special operations unit in Aberdeen… a great presentation and seeing the equipment work in practice was brilliant. Quite an eye opener…👀Special thanks to Tony and Connor for giving up their time, and putting so much in to the evening for us. 👏👏
