Tonight was all about last-minute training ahead of the National Games Challenge in a couple of weeks.

Plenty of hard work, effort and teamwork from everyone. Great job tonight, team!

🌊 Another brilliant day for our Methil YVS volunteers. 🚤

Today our group spent the day supporting the Community Safety Team at the Water Safety Event at Lochore Meadows, near Glenrothes.

Throughout the day our volunteers helped hand out water safety and fire safety information to members of the public, speaking to families about staying safe while enjoying the outdoors.

There was plenty to see as well. We watched an impressive water rescue demonstration by the Glenrothes crew, supported by some amazing Newfoundland rescue dogs, which was a real highlight of the day.

Before packing up, our volunteers also had the chance to try out some public order techniques with our colleagues from Police Scotland and even tackled the climbing wall with The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

A fantastic day, plenty of learning, lots of fun, and the sunshine certainly helped make it a huge success.

A big thank you to everyone who helped organise another excellent community event.

What a fantastic weekend for our Methil YVS members at Badaguish Outdoor Centre with the amazing team from 999 Re:Set

999 Re:set is a charity that supports the mental health and wellbeing of emergency service workers and their families through outdoor activities, peer support and wellbeing programmes.

Our young volunteers had an incredible time taking part in a range of activities, making new friends and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Cairngorms. It was a weekend full of fun, teamwork and plenty of laughs.

A huge thank you to everyone at 999 Re:set Reset for their warm welcome and for organising such a brilliant weekend. Our group thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and made memories that will last a long time

Today our volunteers were delighted to lend a hand at the Lucky Ewe Charity Barn Dance at Stratheden Park.

A fantastic day was had by everyone while supporting a brilliant local charity and all the amazing work they do in our community. Our team even found time to show off their line dancing skills, which were surprisingly impressive to be fair! 🤠🐑

A huge thank you to everyone at Lucky Ewe for having us.

If you haven’t heard of them before, please take a moment to check out the incredible work they do supporting people of all abilities through farming, volunteering and outdoor learning.

Lucky Ewe is a Fife-based charity that provides farming and outdoor opportunities for people with additional support needs and helps build skills, confidence and wellbeing.

A busy and positive night for Methil YVS.

Our group received Home Fire Safety training from one of our instructors, Laura. After working in her Community Safety role in Fife, Laura is moving on to a new position in Glasgow. We wish her every success in her new role and hope she still finds time to remain part of the Methil YVS family. Our Watch Commander, Liam, was delighted to present Laura with a bouquet of flowers as a small thank you for all her support and dedication.

We also had reason to celebrate within the group. Congratulations to Erynn, who has been successfully promoted to Crew Commander following a challenging interview process. A special mention also goes to Nathan and Alfie, who both put themselves forward and demonstrated great potential throughout the process.

Well done to everyone involved tonight. The future of our group continues to look bright.

Last night was a change of pace for our Methil YVS team. We swapped ladders, hoses and drills for a full scale gnome operation thanks to Caroline and Gill and their brilliant gnome making workshop.

Safe to say some hidden artistic talent appeared within the group. Although a few of the gnomes looked like they had been involved in a serious road traffic collision before completion.

What really stood out though was how focused and relaxed everyone was throughout the night. Several of our young people said the session had helped them switch off after weeks of exam stress and pressure at school.

Mental health matters. Sometimes taking a step away from the usual routine, having a laugh with your pals and concentrating on something simple for a couple of hours makes a huge difference.

The station was definitely full of positive vibes last night. Also slightly concerning levels of gnome related chaos.

Huge thanks to Caroline and Gill for giving up their time and helping our team discover their inner creative selves.

Another busy night for our Methil YVS team tonight.

We kicked off our trauma training in preparation for the SFRS National Challenge Games in August. Pete and his crew from Green Watch put the team through their paces with casualty care and triaging multiple casualties at an incident. Some great learning and teamwork from everyone involved.

We also had some brilliant news for the group tonight. One of our very first volunteers, Liam Templeton, has successfully completed the interview process to become our first Volunteer Watch Commander.

Liam has been part of our group for the past 6 years from the day we first started. He joined us as a quiet 12 year old and has grown into a confident, respected and inspirational young leader within the group.

This promotion is fully deserved and reflects the hard work, commitment and support Liam has given to both our group and the local community over the years.

Well done Liam. We are all proud of you.👏🏽

Some serious training completed by our team tonight as we prepare to take part in the first SFRS YVS National Challenge Day.

Despite having some brand new members in the group, every one of them performed brilliantly. Pitching ladders, running hose and carrying out hydrant drills with great communication and loads of enthusiasm throughout the night.

A great effort from the whole team tonight. Proud of every single one of them.

Last Saturday our volunteers helped the local crew at Kirkcaldy Fire Station take part in a charity car wash. They helped raise the magnificent amount of £1200. All of which will go to charitable causes. 👏🏽

Great wee trip with our group tonight to visit bridge control at South Queenferry. We learned all about the history of these 3 magnificent bridges and how they were constructed.

Huge thanks to John from BEAR Scotland for taking the time to show us around.
