April 30th - George Washington the first president of the United States, was inaugurated this day in 1789 in Federal Hall in New York City, addressing his constituency on “the proceedings of a new and free government.”
May 1st 1707 - The Act of Union joined the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Scotland to form the Kingdom of Great Britain.

I included these snippets from history to show that we can have fresh starts and once separate countries can be united. It also heralds the brief return of Tarka Treats (TT) along with Oh Crumbs for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend!

I am very grateful to Claire and our lovely Merton community for keeping the coffee morning going while I have been in the throes of moving house and somewhat under the weather since the start of the year.

Oh Crumbs returns next week and then fingers crossed I will be able, with help, to run TT / Oh Crumbs for the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend.
