It’s now just a few weeks since Lotto Merthyr Tydfil was launched and we’ve had a number of lucky winners. Just last weekend Ms H won £25 on the weekly draw. We wanted to know more, so asked her why she decided to take part in the lottery.
She said ‘I’ve often played other lotteries and liked that the money raised went to worthwhile causes. When I heard about Lotto Merthyr Tydfil, I was delighted to see that players can choose who gets the money from the tickets they buy, thereby choosing a cause close to my heart as well as close to home.’
‘I decided to support Merthyr Camera Club as the members there had supported me in the past. I got to know a them and I discovered how important, and what a difference, the club makes to their lives. It’s not just about using photography creatively, but also about spending time with people who share your interest and forming a social network. I’m also a firm believer that creativity lifts the spirits and improves your mental health. Having worked in the arts sector previously, I’m always keen to support those that bring creative opportunities to others. Lotto Merthyr Tydfil is such a simple way to support a local club, group or organisation.’

Meet the Funder – Local Giving
15th September at 12 noon online only

Introduction to Online Fundraising
Online fundraising is a great way for community groups of all sizes in Merthyr Tydfil to reach more people, raise awareness of what they do, and directly bring in vital funds. Whether it's through crowdfunding pages, focused appeals, social media, or simple promotion of donation links, digital fundraising can help connect with local supporters as well as people further afield who want to make a difference to your community. It doesn't have to be complicated or expensive to get started, and with the right approach, online fundraising can become a valuable part of helping your group grow, support your community, and continue the fantastic work you already do.
Join this interactive and relaxed session, led by Lauren Swain and Luke Upton, two of the Localgiving team based in Wales, to gain an understanding of how you can start with online fundraising, boost your donation levels and have your questions answered.
