Great to see Kirklees Council and Walker Singleton have finally removed the Auction sign from Town Hall

01/10/2018

Meltham Town Council is pleased to announce that it has agreed terms with Kirklees Council to purchase Meltham Town Hall. If the purchase is concluded the property will not go to public auction as was originally intended.

The Town Council is exploring entering into a lease agreement which will see new investment and continued community use of this much loved Meltham public building, by a local charitable organisation.

Meltham Town Council expect the initial sale to be completed in October 2018, when more detailed plans for the future use of the building will be confirmed.

Meltham Town Council are in receipt of professional advice from Huddersfield based Ridley & Hall Solicitors and Bramleys Commercial Estate Agents on this matter.

Any queries should, in the first be instance be directed to the Clerk of Meltham Town Council, Michelle Chard: e-mail: [email protected]

We’ve an announcement to make next week. Stay tuned, folks.

09/06/2018

There are alot of rumours going around about Meltham Town Hall. Some of them are true! Some are way off!

By way of an update, we hope so announce exactly what is happening next week, but you should be assured that the plans, that are awaiting formal sign-off by Kirklees Council, are the best option available to the Town Hall and Meltham at this point in time.

It involves multiple partners and represents good value for money and excellent return in less tangible, but more community minded ways.

Until we can formally announce anything, I trust that you will have faith in us to deliver the best for the people of Meltham, just as we did with The Carlile Institute.

22/04/2018

Two Meltham Town Cllrs have been working on a project to retain the Town Hall and will report back at the Meltham Town Council meeting which is being held tomorrow. We’ve met with Kirklees Council Officers and representatives from our Partners.

We’ll publish more detail in due course, but we’re moving forward, so that’s all good!
