Creating a business with love

The Walled Garden at Mells is a beautiful space of two halves. On one side there is an exuberant garden and outdoor cafe to while away the hours. On the other side a working plant nursery, Cultivating Community, that is run as a non profit social business with the aim of harnessing the therapeutic value of gardening and horticulture.

As a new start up the nursery aims to create a viable self sustaining social business growing and selling plants and herbs to fund community programs in the garden. In doing so it hopes to contribute to long-term resilience in the community through:

Providing space and infrastructure: a well loved garden accessible to diverse local community groups

Encouraging active participation: workshops, programs, training, social gathering for all generations
