There are roadworks starting this week on Corsham Road, with some partial road closures and restrictions throughout August.

But don’t worry, we will be open as usual throughout, with access via Top Lane and other lanes through the village as the roadworks move.

Remember us if you need some essentials and don’t want to battle your way out of Whitley to get into Melksham! We’re open 9-5 on Monday to Saturday and 10-4 on Sundays.

If you have a glut of homegrown produce we’re delighted to accept donations.

Shoppers: you can choose what you like from the Village Veg box and pay what you think 😊

Come and see what we’ve got when you’re passing!

We’re really happy to provide a community service for our fellow villagers, but rubbish disposal is not part of that, particularly not when it’s hazardous waste.

We’ve become aware that someone is putting soiled nappies - unbagged - into the shop bins. Not only is this highly unhygienic in a public place, it’s also extremely unpleasant for our volunteers, who empty the bin on the deck and have on a couple of occasions had to fish nappies out of our blue recycling bin. It’s equally unpleasant for customers sitting on the deck near a bin that is stinking in this heat.

We are a community owned shop, yes, but you all have bins at home for your domestic waste.

Plus, we operate as a not-for-profit organisation, where any profits are put back into the community. We pay for our bins to be emptied and this is done by weight. Putting your rubbish in our bins costs us money. Putting your non-recyclable rubbish in our recycling bin means we are likely to get a fine.

We’ve had a couple of excess weight charges since opening, when we know the shop generates very little waste.

So please, no nappies or dog poo bags in the bin on the deck, and please do not put any rubbish from home in any of the shop bins.

Thank you.

☀️🍦 Sun’s out, scoops out! We’re loving this gorgeous weather and cooling off with creamy Lacock Dairy ice cream. And don’t worry — we haven’t forgotten the pups. Doggie ice cream is ready and waiting, so everyone gets a taste of summer joy. Bring your four‑legged pals for a treat or take one home for them to enjoy. 🐶 🍦 The Lacock Dairy Ltd
