Thomas Cook was born in Quick Close and here he is in 1891 towards the end of his life when he built the Thomas Cook cottages and passed the travel company onto his son. This picture hangs in the Mission Hall and isn’t easy to reproduce clearly as it’s very heavy and up on the wall. The present day descendants of Thomas Cook live in Norfolk but are still involved in managing the cottages and the Mission Hall alongside the Melbourne based trustees.
