Behind the scenes of Deaf Memories of Medway 🎥

Big thank you to Revd. Luke from for being so welcoming to us all and for even getting involved with the creative sessions!

Deaf clubs have been a vital part of connection and identity for deaf people, with over 200 Deaf clubs and Deaf centres existing across the UK between the 1950s and 1980s. However, today, only a relatively small number remain as dedicated deaf clubs - Medway being one of them.

As technology continues to reshape the way we interact, the Deaf Memories Of Medway project highlights the enduring importance of face-to-face connection - friendships, sports, laughter, and even love thrive when we get together in person.
