Why starting out as an Usborne Organiser was the best decision I made since having my children...
In January 2016, I joined Usborne Books at Home, setting up my own book shop business. Today, I have a business to be proud of. Selling books, supporting schools to get free books and to promote a love of literacy at home and at school, and supporting others to run their own businesses gives me enormous job satisfaction.
It’s the best decision I made since becoming a mum. It means I can be a mum all the time and a business owner at the times it suits me to be. Whilst our twins are at school, I’m at work, at home, choosing where and when I work, where I go, who I meet, which groups I attend with my books, which events I book a stall at, how far I travel to visit a school.....as a control freak anyway, this level of control over my earnings really suits me.
I have learnt things about myself I didn’t know, have learnt how to work with others in a way I hadn’t experienced before and I have realised that I enjoy working hard, because I enjoy the financial and emotional rewards that come from being my own boss.
