The best. The best. The best. Another cat cafe dedicated to adults and seniors?? Absolute heaven. The Shabby Tabby Cat Cafe , meet Mount Purrnon Cat Cafe and Wine Bar, you both are SO NEEDED. Thank you for your dedication. 😘
I’ve never been so tired in my entire life and I’ve worked double shifts as an RN in the busiest ERs. Am I exhausted because of my hospice cat, Rally? No. I just saw a post about a kitten with a blood sugar crash and many people were shocked that that was possible. Unless you’re REALLY in rescue in some capacity you could never imagine how difficult kittens can be. They have mystery illnesses, fragile immune systems, stop eating for days at a time, and SO much more. Moms stop feeding babies for whatever reason, babies fade out of no where, there’s just an unbelievable amount of things that can happen when you’re caring for kittens.
That being said, the Kitten Lounge has been closed all week and I’m not anywhere near ready to open it back up. We are all exhausted both mentally and physically over here. There are SO many rescues who thrive on kittens and look forward to kitten season and more power to them. We get so many calls asking us to take kittens because “everyone is full due to kitten season”, and that’s really sad. What about the adults? What about the seniors? GIVE ME THEM.
Of course adult cats and seniors can be difficult and heartbreaking at times but being able to take them in when they have no where to go, and lifting them up so they can start new, is the best feeling in the world. That’s what we do here at The Shabby Tabby. That’s why we exist. That’s why we will never give up.
Will we ever have kittens? Of course. Here and there of course we will, we always have, but the second I didn’t know the adults cats names, was the second I realized something needs to change. Please come visit our young, middle aged, and senior cats at the cat cafe. They love you, and we love you.
Maybe I’ll shower this week. Goodnight.
