We are joining in with the Marsden Jazz Festival Weekend 2026 again this year. On Saturday 10th October our boat will be transformed into The Jazz Boat with the Boba Swing band playing on board for trips between Standedge Tunnel & Marsden Railway Station. Come along and take a ride with them or walk alongside on the towpath and soak up the music. We hope to have the band on board from around 11am til 1pm.

It's been our pleasure to be a part of 7 different weddings over the last few months, and today's is the last one for the season.

If you are thinking about getting married and using the North of England Centre for Music and Arts for part of your celebrations we'd love to be a part of it too.

We can offer trips for guests and the bridal party, and decorate the boat in white or a colour of your choice!

FAQs

❓ What days do you run?
We aim to operate every weekend between March and October, and try to get the boat out during the weekdays in school holidays. These are completely dependent on our volunteers' availability.
We try to keep our Google page up to date with the latest opening hours.

❓ What time does the boat run?
We usually operate from 11am - 4pm, however there are no set departure or arrival times for the Little Blue Boat trips. Our philosophy is that the canal should be a peaceful place away from the stress of daily life, not a place for clock watching. If the boat has passengers then we'll go when ready, if not then we'll wait! Trips between the tunnel and railway station take about 15 mins each way.

❓ How much does it cost?
There is no set fee to ride the Little Blue Boat, but its continued running relies solely on donations. Please pay what you can on the boat by cash or card, or even make a donation online here https://huddersfieldcanal.com/donate/

❓ Are dogs allowed?
Yes, well behaved dogs (and owners!) are welcome aboard at the discretion of the crew. Please keep dogs on leads and off the seats.

❓How can I get involved?
We're always looking for new volunteers to join us at the Huddersfield Canal Society. In addition to crewing and skippering the boat our volunteers give their time to maintain the boats, manage our finances, keep our website and social media up to date, and much more behind the scenes.
