The Marsden Shuttle canal boat is owned and run by Huddersfield Canal Society. Our crew are all volunteers and boat rides have no fixed fee.

Please donate what you can. We run a regular shuttle service between the lock by Marsden Station and the Standedge Tunnel Visitor Centre. The trip lasts about 15 minutes each way. No timetable, but we leave Marsden Station (Lock 42) or the Standedge Tunnel Visitor Centre around every 30 minutes. We rely on volunteers to run the service, so please check before you leave home to ensure the boat is r

unning that day at https://bit.ly/3UTBmCM. We carry up to 12 passengers. No fares, we just ask for a donation by card or into the on board bucket. Be as generous as you like – it all helps to keep the boat running! You can also donate online. We run every day during local school half terms & holidays (not winter) and every weekend between Easter and the end of October. Skippered boat hire is also available by contacting [email protected]. We offer a 3 to 4 hour round trip between Standedge or Marsden Station and the Little Lock Café on weekdays during local school term time.

FAQs

❓ What days do you run?
We aim to operate every weekend between March and October, and try to get the boat out during the weekdays in school holidays. These are completely dependent on our volunteers' availability.

❓ What time does the boat run?
We usually operate from 11am - 4pm, however there are no set departure or arrival times for the Little Blue Boat trips. Our philosophy is that the canal should be a peaceful place away from the stress of daily life, not a place for clock watching. If the boat has passengers then we'll go when ready, if not then we'll wait! Trips between the tunnel and railway station take about 15 mins each way.

❓ How much does it cost?
There is no set fee to ride the Little Blue Boat, but its continued running relies solely on donations. Please pay what you can on the boat by cash or card, or even make a donation online here https://huddersfieldcanal.com/donate/

❓ Are dogs allowed?
Yes, well behaved dogs (and owners!) are welcome aboard at the discretion of the crew. Please keep dogs on leads and off the seats.

❓How can I get involved?
We're always looking for new volunteers to join us at the Huddersfield Canal Society. In addition to crewing and skippering the boat our volunteers give their time to maintain the boats, manage our finances, keep our website and social media up to date, and much more behind the scenes. Boat running all week!
We've managed to arrange a full team of volunteers for this week, including the big 25th anniversary weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

Come and take a ride on our Little Blue Boat the Marsden Shuttle, great for kids and adults alike.

Leaving from Standedge Tunnel End or the Marsden train station every 20 minutes or so, no set schedule.
