🎶 'Seasons of Love' have come together! 🤩 Marple Carnival, Make it Marple and Marple Fest are joining forces for a spectacular musical themed street festival - "Marple Carnifest" on Saturday, 20th June 2026!

Today, Sat 21st June, would have been Marple Carnival Day 🎉🎡, but unfortunately not this year 😭, due to the new Leisure Hub being built in the park. Apart from being a great fun day for everybody, the money collected during the parade is always donated to many local groups, and that will be a sad loss.

However, last July we started the Marple Carnival 50/50 Community Fund and we have been able to donate funds each month to many local groups, and today we donated £180 to New Horizons to help 'keep them afloat'. 🛶🛟

Other groups that have benefitted since last July are: Mellor House, Friends of Etherow, Dragon Miniature Railway, The Garden House, Friends of Chadkirk Chapel, Dementia Drop In, Art Stop CIC, Autisk, Compstall Cricket Club, Men in Sheds, MBA, and the total donated is £1955. 💰💰💰💰

Being a member of the 50 50 club gives you the chance to win some money in our monthly draw as well as helping to support many local groups with much needed funds.

We are incredibly sad to announce that there will be no Marple Carnival this year. 😔

We have been informed by SMBC at the 11th hour that no part of Memorial Park will be available for us to use. Unfortunately at this late notice, and with no viable alternatives being offered, it would just not be possible to create a safe event or even process the paperwork in time. Without the park we cannot raise the money we need to put on the parade so we have no alternative but to cancel 2025.

We are as excited as everybody else about the new Hub and we know how much it will enrich our community. It is just a shame that despite us requesting information since November last year; our volunteers putting hours of work into drawing up many plans of how we could safely operate around the hub works, we were told only in the last couple of weeks that NO PERMISSION would be granted.

Our greatest regret is that this year we will not be able to help the Marple community organisations as we have for the past 60 years from the carnival proceeds (Marple Carnival 50/50 will continue support our community throughout the year).

We will continue to try and find an alternative for 2026 so that we can ensure our long standing tradition carries on.

We wish to thank our sponsors who were ready to come on board once again this year.
