Metropolitan Regatta
So to Dorney for a two-day jamboree with a massive entry, every significant rowing programme racing, and clubs drawn from every part of the British Isles and beyond. Saturday’s men’s eights finals saw close to a hundred crews battling it out, pretty much all trying to figure out which way is up ahead of HRR. Marlow had its biggest and most competitive ever entry with over fifty senior men and women racing in ten crews. Some incredible performances, three A finals and a post-regatta camp to look forward to ahead of a welcome return to the enchanted vale and the viaduct of every rower’s dreams.

Huge thanks to all , officials, volunteers and umpires who made such an epic event happen.

National Schools Regatta - Record Breakers
“If you can’t win, make the one ahead of you break the record.” John McKeithen

Chapeau to Tideway Scullers and Wycliffe College in the final of Championship Girls 4x. “After winning the time trial by 5 seconds and winning their semi-final, Marlow went on to pull a 6:44.25 at Dorney on Sunday, setting a new record in the process (beating Wycliffe’s 6:50.84 set in 2024). Both TSS and Wycliffe also beat the 2024 record, completing the podium”

National Schools Regatta
So to Dorney for the biggest event in the junior rowing calendar, the hottest weekend of the year and an incredible competitive field drawn from all over the British Isles. The Marlow juniors were in incredible form, performed outstandingly well across all the year groups and landed eight A final places and six podium places. Proud of them proud for them and proud to be in the same club as them.

An event like this does not just happen and we need to say a huge thank you to the organisers, officials and umpires who made this incredible endeavour happen. Late Friday afternoon was a living example of the way in which the officials love the sport as they lined up the J14 octos in a howling cross-wind, no histrionics, just calm support and a fair race that left the participants looking forward to their next race. Chapeau and many many thanks.

“For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack”, Rudyard Kipling.

Three action packed days of bank holiday weekend racing for Marlow crews came to a fitting apogee at the Junior Sculling Regatta on Monday. Many thanks to coaches Peter, Richard, Grace, Maisie, Aoife, Libby, Amelie and Mike and congratulations to all who competed.

Huge thanks go to the organising team, volunteers, umpires and officials who ran an incredible event. “Chapeau” to anyone who can line up six J14 octos at the end of a long day! Many thanks.

Wallingford Regatta
As ever, Wallingford Regatta landed and we all found ourselves blinking in the sunlight and at the start of the path to the Henley Regattas. Marlow had a huge entry with the junior and senior squads in action with some great performances and an incredibly strong set of results that bear testament to the foundations laid over the long winter training block. So many highlights that it’s best to just sit back and admire them all! Bring on the next one!

Congratulations to all involved and many thanks to coaches, Peter, Richard, Grace, Jamie, Ben and Russ. Huge thanks go to the organising team, volunteers, umpires and officials without whom the magic would definitely not have happened.

Marlow Spring Regatta
Huge thanks to all who came to compete at Marlow Spring Regatta on Saturday. There was incredible buzz on land and on the water, some great racing and countless stories that will be told for some time to come. All up, 896 competitors from 24 clubs took part in 161 races. The competitors were multi-generational, from the J13s through the junior age categories, seniors and masters up to and including Masters H. As ever, the paras and adaptives flocked to tech water alone and in supported crews. The weather was great, up until late afternoon when it was anything but. An event like this does not just happen, so, on everyone’s behalf, many thanks to all the volunteers, officials, support teams and umpires who made the magic happen. It is only when you stand back that you get a sense of the immense scale of the endeavour.

* Congratulations on yet another successful event at Marlow. Many thanks to Marlow Rowing Club for your excellent organisation and friendly welcome; we had a ball.
* Most of us were lucky enough to row in the glorious sunshine and enjoy the race that you have laid on for us all. Many thanks to you and all at Marlow RC for organising such a brilliant day for all of us! We’re looking at returning for the Marlow Town version!
* Many thanks, we certainly enjoyed it, had some great racing and found the downpour you laid on thoroughly bracing!
