Following delivery of a last batch of Free Family Trees this week, Releaf Marlow's tree planting season is over for another year. Our volunteers planted 125 trees and distributed another 186 to residents of Marlow and nearby, making 311 in total.
Now, our remaining stock in our little tree nursery is rapidly coming into leaf (pictured). We'll look after these saplings over summer for planting or distribution next winter.
If you've planted any trees this winter, NOW is the time to start watering. Handy tip: for best survival a really good soaking less often is better than frequent sprinkles.
Have a great summer, everyone!

Releaf Marlow held its last community tree-planting project of the season on Saturday - putting in 25 new trees on the back field of Holy Trinity School, including a circle of Mediterranean cypresses around the school's fabulous tribal meeting circle (pictured).
Thanks to all the volunteers who turned out, correctly guessing that this would be the only sunny day in a month! Also also to Marlow Town Council, whose 2024 grant to Releaf Marlow specially for school tree planting funded this project. Plus to The Federation of Holy Trinity & Little Marlow CE Schools head teacher Kirsten Harjette for her positive collaboration.
We hope the new trees will provide wonder and interest to generations of future pupils of Holy Trinity.

We had a great morning at Cedar Drive in Marlow Bottom today. Thanks to Richard for inviting us to replant his woodland after almost all its trees had to be felled due to disease. Also to Max, Harry, Phil & partner, Stephen, Andy, Rebecca and Alex for joining the work party.
Very soon, 113 new birch, oak, field maple, hazel, wild cherry and hawthorn trees will be gracing this area and providing fresh habitat for wildlife of all kinds.
This was Releaf Marlow's last group planting event for this winter. Though residents can still help us to plant perennials on Marlow's Path of Positivity on 16/17th Jan. See recent post for details.

We had an atmospheric morning of tree planting at Gossmore Park today, replacing trees planted by the Environment Agency that had died or been vandalised. Thanks to all who volunteered for braving the cold.
We'll be out again this Saturday morning in Marlow Bottom, planting native woodland trees to replace mature ash lost to disease. Do come and join! Contact Nick via Messenger or WhatsApp on 07806 297918 for joining instructions.

Releaf Marlow is pleased to be supporting Marlow's Path of Positivity, beside the Marlow FC ground, by planting flowers in the verge. Please do come and help on any of 27th December, 16th January and 17th January!
Additionally, we will be planting actual trees in Gossmore Park on Wednesday 31st December and Marlow Bottom on Saturday 3rd January. If you'd like to join any of these tasks, and burn off a bit of Xmas pud, then contact Nick on 07806 297918 for details.
Happy Christmas everybody!

Today we planted three new trees, making Marlow's future greener and more beautiful. Thanks to Emma, Catriona and Phill for joining us by the multi-storey car park on Fieldhouse Lane, to replace council-planted trees that had died. Renewed thanks also to the Globe Business Park BID for their generous donation that helped make this possible.

With the heavy rain gone, today was a good day for tree planting. We put four Himalayan birches in at the Gossmore Lane entrance to Pergola Gardens, replacing Environment Agency trees that died. Town councillors Jocelyn Towns and Olwen Elliot helped out, demonstrating admirable cross-party cooperation. 🙂Passers-by were happy to see the new trees appear, which is always nice. 🥰

We're delighted to say, that tree-planting season is underway. Beginning with this sweet gum at Spinfield School. The new tree fills a space left by the sad loss of a majestic beech. Eventually it will light up the playing field with its autumn colour.
While we were at it, we also put in a few scots pine to fill gaps in Spinfield's majestic boundary "hedge" of mature conifers. Big thanks to school governor Bob Houghton (pictured) for his energetic digging.
