🌟Calling all uni students🌟
This September we have an exciting opportunity for university students - a 3 week Kenya programme, working with pioneers in marine conservation.
Here’s the plan…
Live right on the beach, with white sand and warm tropical water. This will be your base as you make a hugely positive impact through a mix of marine and community projects such as coral gardening, permaculture projects, and teaching local children about the importance of conserving their environment.

At the same time head off on safari, play volleyball on the beach, and have many an African sundowner. The perfect mix of working hard and playing hard.
Perfect for uni students whose summers are long and whose CVs might need some sparkle…

Have you given any thought as to where you want to be this July? If you (like us!) quite like the look of beach life in Costa Rica then fear not, we have you covered. The summer is a great time to squeeze in an adventure, whether you’re taking a gap year or not, and we promise to have you home in time for exam results day.

We have three July departures, and they’re always popular so get your name down to avoid disappointment. Everyone on our Kenya trip can add ‘landscape gardener’ to their CV, after a busy day of mangrove planting. Whichever Leap trip you join, you’ll gain a whole host of soft skills to add to your CV and/or uni applications.

The obvious one is of course teamwork, you’ll be living with a group of people who you didn’t know, working together to complete projects, as well as having fun together in your downtime. Feedback is often that the other people on the team are the best part of a Leap programme, and we love seeing the new friendships forged.

Our Leapers also have to hone skills such as resilience and problem- solving, which often coming in handy when volunteering in underfunded areas and communities. Of course, a Leap programme isn’t all about skills to put on a CV, you’ll find it’s much more to do with personal growth, and the wide variety of experiences that you can only get when travelling and volunteering in new countries.

Also a reminder that all of our programmes can count towards the residential portion of your Gold DofE, so if you’re looking for a way to get that ticked off then get in touch.

We understand that planning a gap year can be overwhelming for both the gapper and their parents. We've had decades of experience with helping plan gap years, and we've attempted to distill that knowledge into one nifty guide which we're really excited to share with you all. The guide contains five conversations you need to have with your gapper in the midst of their planning, from where to go to how long to go for, to ensure they have make the absolute most of their time.

Our teams are often based thousands of miles apart from each other but what’s one thing they all have in common? They’re all experiencing challenges, the fun of a team, and are contributing back to the communities they’re based in. These are the pillars of all of our Leap team programmes, whether you’re based in Colombia, Kenya or anywhere in between.

We’ve loved seeing all of our January teams getting stuck into their programmes, and making friends along the way. We hope that they’re enjoying the volunteering aspect, it’s often the bit Leapers look back on and are most proud of (and rightly so!).

Our Kenya team have been in the local community and getting stuck in with the water appreciation project. We absolutely love the hard work and determination our Leapers show when they help with filling the water containers and transporting them, often the traditional Kenyan way - on their head.

Each day in Kenya is different, and this is just one of the many projects the Leapers help with. We can’t wait to see what they get up to over the next few weeks.
