My second research name for today is Smith - definitely linked to Aldbourne; literally engraved in brass. This object appears to be a noseband plate for horse harness. The last smith and harness maker by the name of Smith in Aldbourne died in 1934.
The brass, found in Ramsbury, was brought along to Ramsbury D-day80 and has been returned to the finder.

Sending out a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who supported us yesterday. ❤️🤍💙
The walk to remember was absolutely amazing and was a very special moment for everyone involved. All our soldiers were amazing and did us proud. 🥰

Unfortunately the weather did have other plans so the friendly invasion was a bit wet! 🌧🌧🌧 But thank you to our vendors & volunteers and to everyone who braved the rain to come and see us!!
We will schedule our silent auction for another time so watch this space!

A special thank you to our team of archaeologists who were not put off by the weather and found some wonderful items. We hope to be putting on a display and talk so everyone can see our history.

Last but definitely not least, we thank all the troops who gave their lives on D-Day 82 years ago fighting for our country & to all those who served. Lest we forget ❤️🤍💙
