Dr Anna from The Old School Surgery, Great Bedwyn - a parkrun practice - wrote us a run report about Saturday's Marlborough Common parkrun when Team NHS joined us!

Team NHS parkrun 20th June 2026 – A Celebration of Connection & Community

This week's parkrun was about far more than finish times, personal bests, and positions. As part of our NHS event, we came together to celebrate something at the very heart of both parkrun and healthcare: connection & community.

On a beautiful morning, runners, walkers, joggers, volunteers, NHS staff, patients, families and local residents gathered to share the simple act of moving together. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and full of encouragement, reminding us that health is about much more than medicine alone.

Research consistently shows that social connection plays a vital role in both physical and mental wellbeing. Today's event was a wonderful demonstration of that principle in action. Conversations flowed before the start, friendships were strengthened along the course and smiles were exchanged from first finisher to final walker. Every participant contributed to creating an inclusive community where everyone belonged.

A huge thank you goes to our incredible volunteers, whose enthusiasm and support made the event possible. Their encouragement at every marshal point embodied the spirit of kindness and community that makes parkrun so special.

We were delighted to welcome participants of all ages and abilities. Whether you were running your first ever parkrun, returning after a break, chasing a PB, volunteering or simply enjoying a walk with friends, your presence helped make the morning a success.

The NHS works every day to support people's health and events like parkrun remind us that communities themselves are powerful contributors to wellbeing. By creating opportunities to connect, be active and support one another, we can all play a part in building healthier, happier lives.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. Together, we demonstrated that when communities come together, everybody benefits.

We look forward to seeing you again next week for another morning of movement, friendship and connection. Who will you invite to join you?
