The Africa Project - Wezesha Dada Kenya

The Africa Project - Wezesha Dada Kenya 🌍 A Wragby-based community group with the aim to empower girls in Africa. ❣️

Welcome to The Africa Project! 👋 We are a community group who meet every Thursday morning 10-12 at The Adam and Eve, Wragby and create reusable sanitary towels and nappies to send over to girls, women and mothers in Kenya. On average, girls in Kenya miss one week of school every month because they do not have access to sanitary towels. We want to change that! 👊 Wazesha Dada translates, literally, to 'Empowering Girls' which is the primary aim of our mission. ♀

Come join us - all are welcome!

We’ve had a very busy week training women in the community and school girls how to sew reusable, washable sanitary towels.
We can't wait to share all the details of our trip with you (when we have some electricity and Internet 🤞)

Thank you for supporting us, and a massive thank you to all the ladies who made this possible ❤️

If you would like to join us changing lives one pad at a time, send us a message, or come along to our group every thursday from 10am @ wragby Library 🫶🏽

🌍✈️ We’re Heading to Zimbabwe!

Tomorrow, we arrive in Zimbabwe to begin an incredibly special mission — teaching women how to sew reusable sanitary towels.
We are bringing: 🧵 2,000 ready-to-sew cut-outs
🪡 261 ready-made packs with pouches
110KG (which yes, is overweight 🙈❗️)

These will not only provide immediate support, but also help equip women with valuable skills they can use to support themselves and others in their communities.
We are so excited to get started and to see the impact this training will make 💛

If you haven’t already donated and would like to help us cover the costs of teaching — including providing food and water for the women during each day of training — we would be so grateful for your support.
Every contribution makes a difference.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Together, we are creating dignity, opportunity, and lasting change. 💛✨

We wanted to share a quick update and say a huge thank you to everyone who has already donated to support our trip 🇿🇼
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve had to move our trip to March, but we are still very much going ahead as planned 🌍 We’re incredibly grateful for your understanding and continued support.

Your generosity truly means so much to us, and we can’t wait to share updates with you as March approaches. Thank you for being part of this journey 💙

We are planning an exciting last-minute trip to Zimbabwe in February to personally deliver the sanitary products that the amazing ladies at The Afroca Project have been working so hard to make 🇿🇼

Along with these completed products, we’ll be taking cut-outs, templates, and spare fabric so we can teach local women how to make them themselves. Our hope is to empower these women with a skill they can use not only for their own needs, but also to create an income and support their families 🥰

While there, we’ll be working alongside a charity called ICare So IShare, who have already made a huge impact by installing boreholes to provide clean water to communities and transform the lives of countless families.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do this. Each day we visit, we will be teaching a small group of women, and this comes with unavoidable costs — local transport, meals for the women we are training, and food for any volunteers who support us.

We are funding our own flights, extra luggage, and many of the sewing supplies, but any donations, no matter how small, would be deeply appreciated. Every contribution will go directly towards supporting this work, and we will be sharing updates so you can see first-hand where your generosity is making a difference.

Thank you for helping us empower and change the lives of so many women 💛
